Marshall had made a rapid recovery from his icy dip, the next day he was back to his chipper and clumsy self. Ben wondered why the pup had done something that was so reckless... What if he hadn't been able to undo Everest's seat buckle? Whatever the reason, Everest and Marshall were a lot closer now. He and the husky talked on a daily basis after that life-threatening experience. Ben supposed it was only natural, as the two of them already had feelings for one another, and nearly freezing in the ocean had only strengthened those feelings.
Today, however, was a day that was unique. The production of the Air Patroller was going along nicely due to Ace helping with the construction, and Ace wanted to help train the pups for their aerial deployments. It had been agreed upon that the aerial based pup packs would include parachutes in case of emergency, and so Ace had offered to take Ryder and the others parachuting. Currently the pups were practicing by bouncing on the trampoline, as the snow had melted and the weather had warmed up to about forty degrees (a lot warmer than it had been).
"Chase in outer space!" The German Shepherd giggled as he bounced off of the trampoline into the air and landed on the ground.
"Woohoo! My turn!" Zuma squealed happily as he leapt onto the trampoline, bouncing up and down to great heights.
"That was the bounciest bounce yet, I think!" The chocolate lab chuckled, before getting off of the springboard.
Tuck and Ella did a few springs and had fun with it, excited for their first time parachuting. Skye giggled as she hopped onto the bouncy sheet, doing a few flips and twirls with each of her jumps. "Who's next?" Skye asked as she got off of the trampoline for the next practitioner.
"Go ahead, Marshall!" Rubble suggested.
Marshall shook his head no. "Uh, you first, Rubble!" Marshall quickly said.
"If you say so!" Rubble replied with a grin on his face, letting out several howls of joy as he walked up to the trampoline and flopped onto it, jumping sky high. "It's Rubble, flying on the double!" The bulldog roared as he tumbled through the air. Glancing over to Marshall, with intent eyes, Rubble nodded his head as he walked towards the dalmatian. "Come on, take a bounce Marshall!" Rubble insisted.
Marshall gulped and looked at Ben nervously. "I know you can do it, buddy!" Ben encouraged.
"Okay... just not too high." Marshall sighed as he trotted up to the trampoline and made small bounces. "How was that?" Marshall asked.
"HIGHER!" The rest of the pups exclaimed.
They continued to push Marshall to jump higher until Marshall jumped so high that he got caught in a tree. "That's enough flying for one day! I'll just hang around up here!" Marshall joked, trying to mask his fear of heights.
Then Marshall fell out of the tree, landing in the grass. "You just need to work on your landing! That's the most important part of parachuting." Chase advised his brother.
"Thanks..." Marshall sputtered.
Ben smiled as he gave Marshall a treat. "You were really brave, Marshall." Ben complimented his pup.
Ace and Ryder came out of the Lookout lobby, with Ace in her gear. "Hey pups! Hi Skye!" Ace greeted the canines as the cockapoo leapt into her arms and gave her some licks.
"Hi, pups. Ready for some parachute practice?" Ryder asked as Ace set Skye down.
"We've got our gear and we're ready to fly!" Skye yipped.
"Except, well, me..." Marshall admitted.
"Aww, Marshall, what's wrong?" Ace asked sweetly, bending down and scratching the spotted dog under the chin.
