Under the scorching sun, an unusual chill permeated the vast room. Ji Xiao stood at the doorway, hesitating about which foot to step forward with.

"Miss, what's the matter?"

A familiar voice broke the odd atmosphere, and Maid B from last night approached her. She had hurried over upon hearing the commotion and the sound of things breaking inside the building just as Ji Xiao did.

Seeing Ji Xiao looking somewhat anxious, she inquired, "Shall I look into it, miss?"

Ji Xiao nodded, gesturing for Maid B to approach Maids A and C who were in the room.

It was quite comical that the two maids who had been asserting their dominance over Wei Qingyu just moments ago suddenly fell silent as soon as they noticed Ji Xiao's presence. They now stood to the side, displaying a shy and timid demeanor.

Maid B quickly understood Ji Xiao's intention and sternly demanded, "What's going on? Why has even the lady been alarmed?"

Being slightly older and wearing a different uniform, it was evident that Maid B held a higher position among the servants. She appeared to be the housekeeper.

The two maids hurriedly explained, "Aunt Wu, it's Wei Qingyu! We're innocent."

"Yes, not only did she refuse to take the medicine prescribed by Dr. Chen, but she also spilled the bowl!"

The two maids pointed accusatory fingers at Wei Qingyu, who had by now risen from the floor.

Seated upright in a chair, her posture unwavering, Wei Qingyu's pale face exuded an air of indifference. She seemed unfazed by the accusations and had no intention of defending herself.

To Wei Qingyu, it hardly mattered. Ji Xiao never believed a word she said and had every reason to continue her torment. Why bother trying to explain herself and appear vulnerable?

Amid the silent room, a chuckle escaped Ji Xiao's lips. She leaned against the doorframe, observing how the two foolish maids pinned all the blame on Wei Qingyu.

If it weren't for Wei Qingyu's precarious situation within the Ji household, Ji Xiao might have believed in the righteous indignation being displayed.

Aunt Wu, apparently about to interject, pressed her lips together upon catching Ji Xiao's expression. She thought better of her words, especially in the presence of Wen Xiao and Zhi Qu'er, who stood beside Ji Xiao.

"Is there a problem?" Ji Xiao's voice, mirroring the original owner's demeanor, dismissively ordered, "Don't waste my time with such nonsense. Aunt Wu, dismiss them. I won't tolerate their constant pestering."

The last thing Ji Xiao needed at the moment were these servants who would push her limits.

Aunt Wu hesitated, uncertain about how to proceed.

While the two maids may have been dim-witted, Ji Xiao had been favoring them greatly. Why would she suddenly decide to get rid of them?

Ji Xiao glanced at Aunt Wu, her tone slightly threatening, "Or are you planning to leave as well?"

"No, no, not at all," Aunt Wu hastened to clarify, her hands raised as if surrendering. She led the two maids away, not even giving them a chance to plead their case.

As Aunt Wu left, a semblance of order was restored to the room, leaving Ji Xiao alone with Wei Qingyu.

"Wait," Ji Xiao called out as Aunt Wu turned to depart.

Aunt Wu paused, waiting for Ji Xiao's instructions.

Ji Xiao pointed at the scattered mess on the floor, "Have someone clean this up and prepare another bowl of medicine."
