It was really something, The wall was huge. I sat there on the horse, staring up at the huge structure in front of me. It's taller than anything I've ever seen. How long did it take them to build it? They must've built it whilst the armies were far away from the Rebellion's home base.
I feel an elbow jab into my stomach lightly. "Snap out if it, we are almost there." Delli was sitting on the saddle of the horse I was riding. It was the most uncomfortable ride I have ever experienced, but they didn't have another horse for me to ride.
We rode through the humongous gates at the base of the wall and entered a small town filled with soldiers and weapons. There was probably a blacksmith on every corner. Delli told me that this town was called Aseroth and was specifically made for the soldiers to live in, in case we were attacked at the gate of the wall. We just rode through Aseroth though, didn't even stop.
We rode through the rebel territory. Over hills, through some towns. We had stopped at a tavern for a rest but that was nothing special. It seemed like this journey would never end.
"We're almost there." said Delli from in front of me. She's trying to reassure me that it's not to far ahead. She looks back at me. "So tell me about yourself."
I shoot her a puzzled look. " What do you mean?" Why does she care?
"Well, if we are going to be in the same army, we should get to know one another." There is that smile again. Not the small creepy one that she had used when talking about murder, but the beautiful, genuine one.
"Well what do you want to know?"
"Let's start with... When were you born?"
"I was born on the thirty first day of the twelfth month."
Her smile has died down slightly and she seems to be thinking. "How old are you?"
"I am currently fifteen, I'll be sixteen in ten days."
She seems to be puzzled now. As if what I said bothered her.
"That means you were born on year two thousand?"
Why is this troubling her so much?
"Yes, congratulations, you can do basic math. Why do you keep asking me the same questions?"
She looks at me, straight in the eyes.
"Have you not heard the legends or the tales?"
"No, what legends? What tales?"
"Stop the horses, we set up camp here!" She yells to the rest of the people riding with us.
We set up camp, they made a fire and put up the tents.
I decide to sit down next to Delli whom is just staring into the fire.
"Okay, so what tales were you talking about?" I ask, I am not even sure she heard me.
"Every thousand years, there is a new king. Someone new takes the throne. As the thousandth year dies, on the last day of the thousandth year, a boy is born of fireweilder blood. On this boy's sixteenth birth day, he will have gained a following of soldiers and lead an army to kill the current king and take the crown for himself. Just over a thousand years ago, a man by the name of Theden Harven commanded an army of twenty thousand when he was only of sixteen and raided Highcastle at seventeen with that army. A thousand years before that, Cal Drium killed his father who was Herald of the Central Lands and his mother when he was sixteen. The people of the Central Lands loved their Herald and his wife. Cal took lead of their armies and by telling the people the king had ordered to kill them. He marched on Highcastle that same year and took the crown for himself. There are more before that but I won't bore you with those stories. When we get into town, I am taking you straight to my father. Then he can give you command of his armies and we can take Highcastle!" She seems so eager about it now. Does she really think I could possibly be a king?
This is all so much, it's given me a headache. Could I really be a...
chosen one?
