Pov: ???

April. The day of the commencement ceremony. I was on my way to school on a bus that shuddered unpleasantly at any bump in the road. And while I was admiring the changing scenery behind the glass, the number of passengers kept increasing.

Most of them wore school uniforms. There was also a lonely, not particularly successful office worker. Maybe he was a pervert, trying to casually snuggle up to someone on a crowded bus.

And right in front of me was an elderly woman swaying on unsteady legs as if she was about to fall. The poor old woman would have to stand until she got to her stop.

Still, I was wrong to take the bus. I got a good seat, but the cold wind was blowing right at me, and the bus was completely full.

The clear clear sky is relaxing... it seems like I could fall asleep immediately. But my peace and tranquillity is suddenly disturbed....

- Don't you think you should give way?

I opened my half-asleep eyes sharply. What? Someone's telling me off, I thought, but it seemed to be the person in front of me.

A young, well-built blond man sat in the priority seat. He was clearly a high school student. An older woman was standing in front of him, and it was some office worker who was telling him off.

- Hey you, can't you see how uncomfortable the old lady is?

The girl wanted him to give way to the elderly woman. Her voice sounded quite loud in the hushed bus, which attracted the attention of the other passengers.

 - What kind of strange question are you asking, lady? - The guy could have said it with anger, a cheeky insult or a straightforward statement, but he just smiled and crossed his legs. - Why would I give up my seat to anyone? I have absolutely no reason to stand up.

- Isn't it natural to give priority seating to elderly people?

- I don't understand, priority seats are just priority seats and there are no laws requiring me to give way. Whether or not to get up is up to me, as the person sitting in the seat right now. Would you give up my seat because I'm a young man? Ha ha ha, that's just silly.

He spoke in a tone you wouldn't expect from a young high school student. His hair was lightened, and he didn't look like a student at all.

- I'm a young, healthy man. Of course, having to stand won't cause me much discomfort. But obviously, standing will use up more energy than sitting. I don't want to do that sort of nonsense. Or maybe you're suggesting I should be more active and energetic?

- What? What makes you think you're better than anyone else?

- Better? It's obvious because you and the old lady have lived longer than me. There's no doubt about it. Besides, "better" means "superior," and that includes height. Even though you're older, isn't that rude and insolent?

- What? You're only in high school?! Listen to what the elders tell you!

- Come on, come on.

The woman was only getting more and more agitated. The poor old woman didn't want to make things worse, so she tried to calm her down with gestures, but she continued to nag her student and looked like she was about to become furious.

- Looks like the old lady has a sharper ear than you do. Well, Japanese society isn't completely rotten yet. I wish you to enjoy the rest of your life as much as you like," he said with another meaningless, sincere smile, putting on his headphones and playing loud music. The woman gritted her teeth in fury.
