~NARRATOR'S POV~
Daisie shuffled her feet as she made her way down the hall, hugging her books tightly against her chest. It was only the second week of her sophomore year, but she already felt like she was drowning. No matter how many hours she spent studying and doing homework, her grades just wouldn't improve.
As she walked, Daisie could hear snippets of conversations around her. Girls were talking about boys, plans for the weekend, and gossiping about the latest drama. Meanwhile, Daisie was consumed with worries about her english test, the math quiz, and the research paper she had to finish.
She hadn't told her parents about her grades yet. They always had high expectations for her, and Emily didn't want to disappoint them. But it was becoming harder and harder to pretend that everything was okay.
Daisie turned the corner and nearly ran into Mr. Johnson, the school counselor. "Hey, Daisie, how's it going?" he asked.
She shrugged. "Not great, Mr. Johnson. I'm really struggling in school right now."
He patted her shoulder reassuringly. "I'm here to help, Daisie. Let's go back to my office and talk about what's been going on."
Once they were settled in his office, Daisie poured out her frustrations. She had always been a good student, but suddenly everything seemed impossible. She was having trouble concentrating in class, and even when she did pay attention, she couldn't seem to retain the information.
Mr. Johnson listened patiently, nodding occasionally. "It sounds like you're really overwhelmed right now," he said. "School can be tough, especially when you're dealing with other things in your life. Why don't we come up with a plan to help get you back on track?"
They spent the next hour going over Daisie's classes and assignments, breaking down each assignment into smaller, manageable tasks. They talked about different study strategies and test-taking tips, and Mr. Johnson even helped Daisie come up with a schedule to stay on top of everything.
As Daisie left his office, she felt a small glimmer of hope. Maybe things could get better. Maybe she could pull herself out of this hole.
But she knew it wouldn't be easy. She still had a lot of work to do, both in school and in her personal life. But with Mr. Johnson's help, at least she had a starting point.
i think this book is getting better! this chapter is actually pretty slay (im being sarcastic)! ai tends to like to repeat a lot of stuff so the next chapter may be a little bit of an 'overlap'.
