It had been a few days since you last saw your boyfriend. You both had been so busy, that you hadn't gotten a chance to see each other. One thing that helped make it bearable was his nightly phone calls. You loved his voice and how soothing it was.
You closed your eyes, as you listened to him, and imagined he was lying next to you.
You could almost feel his breath on your skin and his fingers running through your hair.
He always ended each call by telling you how much he missed you and how badly he wanted to see you again. You, of course, echoed his sentiments, and after this night's call, you decided you were going to surprise him at work, tomorrow.During the drive to the video store, his earlier admission that he was falling in love with you replayed on a loop, in your mind. You couldn't help the wide smile that was plastered on your face as you recalled the rest of that night.
You strolled in through the door and noticed the store was devoid of customers. Your attention was then directed to Robin and Steve bickering, behind the counter. They both had their backs to you, so your presence went undetected as you approached them.
You then leaned on the counter, and waited for one of them to notice you.
"Why can't you ever just admit you're wrong?" Robin asked, frustrated.
"Because I'm not!" Steve countered.
"Ok, whatever," she dismissed, finally turning around to see you standing there. "Oh, hey, when did you get here?"
"A few minutes ago," you replied, as Steve turned and saw you.
"Hey babe," he greeted, with a smile. "This is a nice surprise," he continued, walking out from behind the counter.
"Yeah, I just wanted to see you, so here I am," you explained as he pulled you to him, for a kiss.
"That's so sweet," Robin interjected, causing Steve to roll his eyes.
"I was also hoping to take you out, after your shift, if you don't have other plans..." you added, looking up at him, hopeful.
"I don't, so I'm all yours," he replied, before kissing you again. "Oh, but since you're here, you can help us settle something," he then began, pulling away. "Which Rocky movie did he fight Mr. T in?"
"Rocky 3," you quickly answered.
"I told you!" Robin then exclaimed.
"Really? I could've sworn it was the second one..." Steve said, defeated.
"He has a rematch against Apollo in the second one," you informed. "That's really what you guys were arguing about?"
"Yes, because he was so insistent that he was right, and wouldn't let it go," Robin revealed, exasperated.
"I'm sorry I got the sequels confused, alright?" Steve asked, annoyed.
"Its ok, I can see how they would be hard to remember, with the sequels being so complex and everything," Robin teased.
"Shut up," Steve then spat.
Robin then checked the time.
"Its closing time, finally," she sighed, before going to lock the door.
You then refocused his attention on you, and guided his lips to yours.
"Thanks for rescuing me from this," he breathed, against your lips.
"Its what I'm here for," you smiled.
"Hey dingus, are you gonna help me close up or...?"
Steve rolled his eyes again, while you couldn't help but giggle.
