One door closes another one opens

I walk into school tired and unbothered. I really don't care how I look, I even wore my pyjamas to school.

As soon as I walked through the doors Kenny ran up to me.

"Y/n you'll never guess what just happened, Hawk just came up to me and-"

My anger escalates. "I'm gonna kill him." I feel protective over Kenny, he doesn't seem to have any friends and he gets bullied a lot, he reminds me of a younger me but also someone else...Hawk. My heart sinks. I start walking to find him but Kenny stops me.

"He apologised to me." I look at him confused and he smiles up at me. "He also said to tell him if anyone gives me a hard time. I kind of figured you pushed him to that."

"What makes you think that?"

He rubs the back of his neck nervously. "Yesterday I heard some people were talking about an argument between you and Hawk. Apparently you really layed him out."

"Yeah, it's just a day I don't want to remember" I shrug. But he steps forward and hugs me. With him a little bit shorter he wraps his arms my waist and mine around his back. He must have heard what was said. It doesn't surprise me that everyone knows now, our school is great at gossiping. He pulls out of the hug and smiles brightly. This boy has no one, his brothers in jail, his dad is never home because he's in the military and his mums constantly working. He's like me in that aspect.

"He also invited me to sit at your table." Kenny smirks and we start rounding a corner to the cafeteria.

"What do you mean?" Hawk was sitting at our table again. None of his new friends were there and he was laughing with Demetri and Miguel. I can't help but let a smile dance on my lips. We walk over slowly and Hawk jumps up.

"Guys this is Ken." He says to the boys as he scruffs up his hair. He suddenly realises I'm stood there and he lets go of Kenny who instantly sits next to Miguel and starts up a conversation. "Hey Y/n."

"Hey Hawk." For a second he almost looks offended but its gone so quickly that I could have imagined it.

I take my spot next to Demetri and Hawk instantly follows after me, taking his spot on the other side of me.

We all make conversation for about 5 minutes before Moon walks up to us. She smiles at me kindly, making me feel worse about kissing her boyfriend. "You told me we needed to talk?" She asks Hawk.

"Yeah." He says as he stands up. I didn't notice it at first but he looks really bored talking to Moon. I wonder what's happening. They both walk out the cafeteria together as the first bell to start the day rings. The first lesson I had is History in which of course I sit next to Hawk. I can only cover for him for so long.

*ELI'S POV*

We walk to outside the cafeteria doors. "Look I'm sorry Moon but we're done." She doesn't look shocked and for some reason that's like a kick to the stomach.

"Did I do something wrong?" She asks.

"No, I just don't love you." I shrug.

"I never asked you to love me. You don't need to love me yet." She pleads.

"Moon your not hearing me. I don't love you."

"You love Y/n don't you?" She's asks me.

Now it's my turn to be surprised, I didn't realise people could tell how I felt towards Y/n. I mean it's been years and Y/n hasn't noticed. Miguel and Demetri could tell of course but only because they're constantly around us. Not to mention the amount of times we have talked about Y/n. "Yeah." Is all I manage to say.

"I mean I don't blame you, she is really hot." She laughs. I can't help but agree. "Y/n's a good person Hawk. Please don't hurt her." With that she starts walking away. "More than you already have." She adds.

Shit. I'm late to class. I get to my History class quickly and walk inside. Y/n's already there writing in her book like the rest of the people here. I sit down quickly hoping not to get noticed.

"Excuse me." The teacher says. I sigh. For fuck sake. I can't get in trouble for being late again. Mums gonna kill me. "Y/n your wanted in the principals office." I look at her and she's just as confused as I am.

She starts packing her stuff up but I stop her. "You go. I'll bring your stuff." I tell her. She nods me a thank you and rushes off to the principals office.

*Y/n's POV*

I knock on the principals office door and I hear a distant "Come in." I open the door and the principal is sitting opposite none other than Robby Keene.

When I walk in Robby instantly stand up and I run and hug him. His arms wrap around my waist as my arms snake around his neck. "What are you doing here?" I ask.

"Not even happy to see me? Wow." He laughs.

"Of course I am. I'm just confused."

"I got kicked out my last school so now I'm looking at new ones." I laugh but I don't mean to. His face is serious but then joins me in laughter.

"Well I'm happy you did." The principal clears her throat and we both let go instantly.

"Thank you. Mr Keene specifically asked you to tour him Miss Brown. Is this okay?"

"Of course." I smile. "C'mon Keene let me show you around" We both get up and walk out the door.

"This place is so big. How long did it take you to memorise it?" He questions.

"About 2 weeks I think." I shrug. "I should make you a map." I joke.

"You know what? Maybe we could discuss this map over dinner tonight? I'll pick you up at 8" He asks.

I can't help but smile. "Mr Keene, are you asking your tour guide on a date? I'll send you my location."

He's smiling now too. "Well... She's definitely the most gorgeous tour guide I've ever seen. But I think she should be much more than my tour guide." He then winks at me. My mouth hangs open without realising.

He moves closer to me and he suddenly puts one of his hands on my hip and the other on my cheek. He uses the hand on my cheek to shut my mouth. Then he kisses my lips. Slowly and unsure. Then I kiss him back...
