Season nine, episode sixteen
The storm

The nights got worse.

It was now in the middle of winter, Ivory hadn't spoken a word. Communicating through nods and firm head shakes, or nothing.

That was the most you could get out of her.

Harley had come into her room over and over again through the day just to sit. They read through her books. It broke Harley's heart to see Ivory like this. Like a shell, a human shell where nobody is inside.

Because there wasn't anymore. But could there be?

Many people have ventured into her kingdom room, where she rots. None are successful at getting her to leave it. Ivory just sits there, in the chair overlooking the Kingdom. People watching.

Ivory couldn't trust herself to go outside. With the fear that she won't make an effort to come back. She needed to kill walkers, but she didn't have it in herself to do it.

Kelly stayed at the kingdom. Not going with her friends to Alexandria.

Kelly often came into Ivory's room as well. To take care of her, to brush her hair, give her meals and dress her wound. Ivory wanted to say something, tell her to stop. Tell her that she has to get away while she still can because everybody Ivory cares for ends up dying.

Ivory hasn't smiled since she thanked Kelly for helping her down. She thought it would feel refreshing to sit and do nothing. To properly mourn. It's not.

Being alone with your thoughts is a dangerous thing. Even more dangerous for Ivory. The thought of leaving to the other side of America passed her mind more than once.

It's gotten colder. Ivory's noticed how the Kingdom has been falling apart and she's heard whispers about leaving to join Alexandria and go back to Hilltop.

Ivory doesn't think she can face the hilltop again. If she did it would be even more painful, the weight of both the leaders on her shoulders. But she has to.

Ivory stuffed the small amount of clothes she had left in her bag, strapping every knife she had into her. There is no way the knives are ever going to leave her body again. She couldn't risk it.

Ivory opted for Jesus's old black beanie, giving Harley her old Hello Kitty one. Her two layered thick shirts and yet again Jesus jacket, from the first time they met. A pair of baggy black jeans and fluffy socks covered by her Converse. Lastly, she threw her bag over her shoulders.
