"Wow, this Rio guy must have some money," Lexi said, admiring the ring on Isla's finger. She looked at Isla and asked, "And what did you say?""Well, I said yes, obviously," Isla replied with a smile.
Lexi grabbed some patient files and asked, "How long ago did he ask you?"
"A couple of weeks ago," Isla answered honestly, giving her friend a small smile.
"A couple of weeks ago, and I'm just finding out now?" Lexi said, looking at her in surprise.
"Well, you're the first person I told, other than Axel and Emma," Isla explained. "Look, I didn't tell you because I just didn't want to share right away. I wanted time to think about what I wanted without everybody throwing their opinions at me."
"And what do you want?" Lexi asked curiously.
"Well, I want to have the wedding before the baby's born so we can get settled in and stuff before it arrives," Isla said. Lexi went to speak again, but Isla stopped her. "And I've already figured out what I want. I want something simple, small, and quick, in about two months."
"Two months? You're shotgunning this thing," Lexi remarked. "I can't really blame you, though. You'll be showing in no time."
"And it needs to be done before Emma leaves," Isla added. "But anyway, I'm off. I'll see you later." Isla made her way out to her car and drove home. She walked in the door, setting her stuff down on the counter.
"How was your day, Mama?" Rio asked, walking up behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist, placing his hands on her belly.
"Stressful and tiring," Isla replied, leaning her head back on his shoulder to look up at him. He placed a small kiss on her lips before pulling back.
"I got a bath going for you. It should help you relax," Rio said. They both walked up the stairs to the bathroom.
"Are you going to get in?" Isla asked, looking over at him as he sat in the chair next to the bathtub.
"Nah, but I'll wash you," Rio teased, watching her slip into the water. The warm water provided relief as Isla relaxed. Rio gently washed her, his hands moving sensually across her body. Isla moaned softly, feeling pleasure building within her.
"Oh," Isla moaned as Rio's fingers slowly rubbed her clit. Her body arched, and her eyes closed as she leaned against the tub. Rio increased the pace, and Isla's hips pushed forward as the familiar knot in her lower stomach tightened.
"Ah," she moaned as her back arched even more. Her hands moved to grab Rio's wrist as he skillfully unraveled the knot, bringing her to her climax.
"Rio," Isla moaned, looking up at him, her body still tingling with pleasure.
"Good girl," Rio said, kissing her forehead and then helping her out of the tub.
"What about you?" Isla asked, looking at him from where she sat on the bed.
"I'm okay," Rio replied. Isla was about to say something else when he continued, "I had some business today that could have gone bad. It almost did, Isla"
"Rio," Isla said, looking at him with a mixture of surprise and tenderness.
"No, Isla. I realized that it's not just me anymore, that I have this baby and you, and I need to..." Rio began to say, but he struggled to find the right words. He had never been so open and vulnerable with her before. "I... I love you, Isla," he finally confessed, his voice filled with sincerity.
Isla was taken aback, almost too shocked to respond. Those three words, so simple yet powerful, hung in the air between them. After a moment, she gathered her thoughts and managed to find her voice.
"And I love you," Isla said, moving to sit behind him and wrapping her arms around him. She pressed a gentle kiss to his jaw, her lips lingering against his skin. "And you're fine. Nothing happened..." Isla whispered, her voice filled with reassurance. She moved her hand to gently cup his face, encouraging him to look at her.
"And that's all that matters, that you're fine," Isla continued, her gaze unwavering. "We'll face whatever challenges come our way together, Rio."
"I just want to hold you," Rio said, his voice filled with a mix of longing and vulnerability. Isla smiled at him, her eyes filled with love, and nodded. She guided him back onto the bed, pulling him into her embrace. They held each other tightly, finding solace and comfort in their shared love and the strength of their bond.
