Fine? (Chanbaek short story)

Chapter 1-Left

Chanyeol and Baekhyun have always been so close to each other. You see them together everywhere you go. It is almost like there is super glue between them. They are basically inseperable. Well, since both of them are attractive based on both visual and personality, they can't help but be attracted to one another as well, especially when they get along so well with one another. Things had always been good for around 4 years already. They could cope with both studies and their relationship. Everything was all fine.

"C'mon, let's go!! I'm bringing you out today!!" Chanyeol said while flashing his ever dashing smile at Baekhyun while pulling him out of his house by his wrists.

"Huh, what?? But I'm not properly attired ah Yeol!!" Baekhyun tried to resist.

"You know you look good in anything." Chanyeol said then released Baekhyun's wrist to pull out his properly tucked in shirt and messed his hair a bit. "Now, you're not alone. Let's go" Chanyeol said while smiling again and grabbing Baekhyun's hands this time.

"H-hey wh-"

"Sshh. You'll know when we get there." Chanyeol reassured the ever anxious Baekhyun and he finally nodded and shut up.

"Woahhh"

"Do you like it?" A deep voice came from the back and arms were wrapped around Baekhyun's waist.

"I-I oh my god, Chanyeol. You didn't have to do this!!" Baekhyun exclaimed.

"Hey. It's your birthday, I have to make it special. Since today marks the day someone special was born..I bet you forgot it was your birthday too, didn't you?" Chanyeol stated.

"Hmm...ya.." Baekhyun slightly nodded while continuing to admire what Chanyeol has done for him. It is a whole restaurant being decorated into a place where all his favourite things are placed inside with the theme of how he hoped his future house could be decorated like.

"Thank you so much!! I love you." Baekhyun said while giving his cute eye smile and hugged Chanyeol tightly.

Chanyeol ruffled Baekhyun's hair and hugged him back while whispering, "I love you too...so much."

Things were really still going well.

However...one day...

"Sorry Mr Byun, after all the diagnose and all the tests you have gone through, I am regretful to inform you that you are having lung cancer, stage 2 already." Baekhyun has been feeling unwell for the past one month already. After much persuation from Chanyeol, he finally decided to go to the hospital to have a check-up. However, Chanyeol couldn't accompany him since he has to finish a group project with his groupmates, so he went alone.

"W--what? You mean...I will die?" The always-direct Baekhyun blurted out.

"Hmmm...stage 2 is still not so serious yet Mr Byun. But you have to undergo treatment, sir. But that treatment will only be available in the United States. It is better to get there ASAP though or else, you might have risk of dying real quick. So please, give it a thought and decide quickly." The doctor said.

"What?! The U.S?!" Baekhyun shouted, forgetting he is in the hospital. He quietened down, nodded and left silently.

"What about Chanyeol...?" He thought to himself.

After much thinking...

If I need to leave him, I can't leave him with much hope. I don't even know if I could fully recover. I don't even know if I will be coming back...

I shouldn't tell Chanyeol about my conditions.

"Hey Baek!! Let's go out today, shall we?" Chanyeol said happily, not knowing what was in store for him.

Not waiting for Baekhyun to even reply, Chanyeol just pulled Baekhyun out of his house again and asked casually, "by the way, how was the results after you have seen the doctor?"

It's time...I guess. Baekhyun thought innerly.

"Just nice, I wanted to tell you something today." But while saying that, Baekhyun just pulled his hand back from Chanyeol's grip and it immediately alerted Chanyeol.

"Hey, Baek, what's wrong? Is it the result wasn't something good?? You know I will be there for you no matter what." Chanyeol, still not knowing anything and while feeling very confused, he still tried to reassure Baekhyun.

"Chanyeol. I am going to leave you. I realised I have already lost my feelings for you. I am going to the U.S now." Baekhyun said harshly to Chanyeol, hoping that Chanyeol will just let him go.

"What?! Baek. Hey. This is not funny. Don't joke around like that. What's wrong? Did I do something wrong?" Chanyeol asked, shocked, while trying to pull Baekhyun back to him as he tried to walk away back to his house.

"Nope. You didn't do anything wrong. I just don't love you like I used to anymore." Baekhyun has so much difficulty trying to say those words out. It hurts him to say it too, it felt like thousands of knives were cutting him for him to say that.

Baekhyun felt his heart break into pieces as he sees his "forever-happy" lover break down in front of him but he held his tears in and walked into his house and carried his lauggages out.

"NO! Wait! Baek! No! Don't leave me...! At least tell me the real reason why you are leaving! I know you haven't lost your feelings!" Chanyeol shouted as his legs gave in and he knelt on the ground, crying like there's no tomorrow.

"C'mon Baek!! I CAN SEE IT IN YOUR EYES!! No no no. This can't be true. Has this got something to do about you results?? Is there something you are hiding from me?" Chanyeol kept trying to push Baekhyun for the truth.

Baekhyun knew he couldn't bare to see the scene. So, he quickens his pace and walked away from the broken boy.

"I'm sorry Yeol...I can't bare to leave you too. But I have to...in case...just in case...I die earlier than expected...and that would be even harder for you. I rather let you go right now." Baekhyun mumbled to himself as he leaves, leaving Chanyeol to cry alone.
