Fine? (Chanbaek short story)

Chapter 2-Return

It has been around 2 years since Baekhyun left. Baekhyun has finally fully-recovered from his illness and had 'won' the cancer. Now, he is finally back in Korea.

He can finally find Chanyeol again.

That is if...Chanyeol haven't moved on from him yet. He came back on Chanyeol's birthday, on purpose. He wants to surprise that giant yoda of his, or maybe not anymore. And also give him a birthday present.

Korea, I'm back.

Chanyeol-ah, I'm back...

As Baekhyun walks with his left hand holding bags and books, his right hand holding a can of drink, his thoughts of Chanyeol already moving on can't stop going through his mind. But he decided that if Chanyeol really had moved on and had forgotten about him, he will just accept it, since, afterall, it was still his fault for leaving that giant broken two years back. And he didn't even tell him the real reason and didn't even told him to wait for him to come back.

"Ahhh, let's keep these negative thoughts away for a while. I need time to appreciate Korea again." Baekhyun mumbled to himself as he walked down the streets of Seoul.

"Nothing much has changed..." Baekhyun said and stopped in front of a restautant.

More specifically, the restaurant of his last birthday spent in Korea with Chanyeol.

Memories start to flood Baekhyun's mind and he started tearing up a little as he walked nearer to the restaurant.

"Table for..?" The waiter at the entrance politely asked. Baekhyun didn't even realised he walked up that closely already.

"Ahhh..um no I'm not eating. Sorry." Baekhyun apologised and gave the waiter a small smile.

"Ah, it's okay mister. Hope you feel better soon." The waiter politely said, obviously knowing that Baekhyun probably is feeling sad due to his tears.

"Um, ha, thank you." Baekhyun said while scurrying away and wiping his tears.

"Ah stupid. Why did i start crying.." Baekhyun muttered to himself again as he continued wiping the tears away and walking.

Walking and walking, suddenly, Baekhyun sees a familiar back view.

"Uh--uh? Is--isn't t--that Y--yeol?" Baekhyun said so softly, in a hurt tone.

He's hugging someone --- Kyungsoo. Baekhyun then processed what was going on and was even more shocked seeing who was it, but wasn't very surprised, just disappointed.

Kyungsoo is Baekhyun's closest friend in school, that's why he knows Chanyeol too, since they hang out together often. And before Baekhyun left, he told Kyungsoo the real reason why he was leaving and instructed him not to tell Chanyeol. But he also told Kyungsoo to stay by Chanyeol's side, knowing he would be rather broken, to protect him and keep him happy. So he wasn't surprised if they have gotten so close and went into a relationship.

He swiftly turned around and wanted to get away as fast as possible.

"Uh, Chanyeol? I saw Baek." Kyungsoo said and that stopped Chanyeol from hugging him any longer.

"What do you mean by that? Baekhyun is not even in Korea anymore. Ever since..." Chanyeol trailed off, thinking of the last day where Baekhyun left him. He then cleared his throat and continued, "I have not heard of him. I don't think he's back."

"But I'm sure it's him!! After all, I was also his close friend!! Just turn around and see for yourself before he gets too far!" Kyungsoo exclaimed.

Obeying, Chanyeol turned around to see a familiar small frame speeding off. He wasn't sure if it was him but he called for him anyways.

Baekhyun was still speeding off when he heard "Baek?" coming from behind him.

That voice...he knows it very well, it was Chanyeol calling him. Baekhyun quickens his steps and ignored Chanyeol.

"No no no. I can't turn around and let him know it's me." Baekhyun continued brisk walking while shaking his head slightly.

By now, his tears can't be hold back any longer and started to fall.

"Ah stupid me. I was already expecting him to move on. Why am I still crying?? Ahh stupid.." Baekhyun kept murmuring to himself to stop himself from crying any longer but nothing works.. so he kept trying to use his sleeves to wipe his tears away, which triggered a flashback.

"Ahhh, Baek, why are you crying? It's just a movie." Chanyeol said when he heard Baekhyun sniffing beside him and saw that Baekhyun was actually crying while watching a movie.

"Oh c'mon...you know I don't like to see you cry..."

Hearing what Chanyeol said, Baekhyun then used his sleeves to wipe his tears away when Chanyeol held his arms.

"Come here, let me do it for you. As much as you look cute trying to use your super long sleeves to wipe away your tears, it's causing your face and eyes to turn red." Hence, Chanyeol used his thumbs and gently wiped the remaining tears off Baekhyun's face.

While still holding onto Baekhyun's hands, Chanyeol said, "Don't cry anymore, okay? If you do, then at least I will be there to help you wipe the tears away. You won't need the sleeves."

"Come on, smile." Chanyeol said while using his fingers to bring up the tips of Baekhyun's lips, turning it into a smile.

Chanyeol seemed so accomplished as if he finish a master piece and said, "Yes, that's the way I love it." And he smiled at Baekhyun sweetly, which made Baekhyun smile genuinely at Chanyeol's sweetness and clutched his hands tightly...never wanting to let go.

"Pfft...I guess I have wipe my own tears from now on..." Baekhyun whispered to himself and used his sleeves to wipe away his tears again while still trying to get far away.

I should try to get to a corner, I can't keep up this speed any longer with all these things with me. Baekhyun thought.

Seeing how the guy with similiar frame of Baekhyun try to wipe away things from his face, which Chanyeol assumed was tears, using such a familiar action as to Baekhyun, I think that's really Baek. Chanyeol thought to himself.

Baek's back.
