Chapter 7, Wedding Gifts

The first few weeks in college life was going smoothly for Crawl and myself. We were trying to plan this Christmas country wedding before Christmas.

And time was coming fast. I was not sure what I had been thinking to plan this so soon. But it was exciting. And we knew the timing was perfect for us to get married.

I had no further issues yet from Professor York but time would tell with him. I told Crawl he had a girlfriend. But Crawl did not buy it. He thought that the guy got around and had many women in his life but who am I to judge. I was not going to be one of the Professors next women on his list.

I was heading to class when I noticed the Professor talking to that woman he was dating. I hung back around the corner to see if I could hear the two talking. And sure enough I could overhear them a little bit over the crowd of students going by us.

"But I thought things were going well between us what happened? Maybe I can work this out with you. I think something could happen for us" she is saying to him.

"I had thought so as well when we started to date. But I am not feeling that feeling and things need to end. I do not want to waist time. I need to move on and so do you get a good start and there are plenty of other men out there who would be right for you. Just not me" he is telling her softly.

"But that is not true. There is a spark there. I know it. And I do not want other men. I wanted to be with you" she begs him. She sounds teary eyed.

"There is someone else. And it is best if you find someone else to help you move forward from this" he offers advice. Jerk. What a jerk. Move on? Find someone new fast to get over him? He was full of himself!

"I do not understand" she sniffs back tears.

"I have to go. As I said it is over. Don't call me I will not answer your calls or emails" he informs her. "good luck on dating" he says as he touches her arm then wanders off.

"Oh sorry you had to hear that" the girl sobs as she spots me come wandering around the corner.

"What a jerk! You are so pretty you can do better than him" I softly tell her.

"I can't do better than him. I was in love with him for years. We hid things. I was in his class and then once I was not we began to date. I was so excited for this. And he said he was to. But we were not on the same page I guess. And now there is suddenly someone else?" she sniffs back tears. "I guess I am not young enough for him"

"He used to teach you?" I stammer.

She nods. "About three years ago. He was giving me attention over all the others in his class. Said how smart I was. How I had so much to offer the world. He was impressed with me. He focused on me. He helped me get a job here once I finished my classes. Once I was done with school here we actually began to date. Everything before that was behind the scenes. We had to stay a secret. He liked it like that. It thrilled him. I guess with it being out on the open well no thrill there right?" she says bitterly. Tears well up in her eyes. "It he ended up going for you don't. He is not worth your time. He will do anything to get what he wants then once he has it then he won't want you any more" she cries.
