My phone was buzzing on the nightstand, blindly slapping the table until I found it and brought it to my ear.
"Hello?" Madison groaned, rolling in my arms to hide in my chest, the early morning sun had started to peek through the curtains, a pink hue spreading across the white comforter of the hotel bed. I blinked tiredly, my arm still locked tightly around Madison's body, her warmth becoming mine, and I didn't want this to ever end. She came into my life as a solution to a problem she didn't create, and while I was still working on the reputation Savannah destroyed, it was nice knowing that Madison saw past the bullshit the circuit liked to pin on me.
"I tried calling Madison but she didn't answer," Nash's voice was quiet but strong. He was either next to a sleeping Kristina and Rhett, or he was in the hallway, "I'm going to bring Rhett down, we're out of formula and he's getting cranky, I think he wants you."
"Ha," I looked down at Madison when she shifted in my arms, "No chance he wants me, he wants Madison, and she didn't answer because she's still asleep," She sleepily looked up at me, her blue eyes barely open before she pulled the covers over her head, hiding from the sunlight, "Or she was, we might have woken her up."
"Shut up," Madison grumbled, rolling out of my arms so she could cocoon herself in the sheets, "It's too early for you to be on the phone baby, put it down I want to sleep more."
I muted the microphone while I leaned over to pepper her face in kisses, the deep scowl turning into a fit of giggles, and when she was smiling I unmuted Nash, the remnants of his daughter's laughs entering the microphone. "That's what I like to hear Rogers," I could hear the smile in his voice, "I'll be outside your door in three, make sure you get ready soon, we have interviews to attend."
"Yes boss," I teased, reaching down for my button-up and handing it to Madison, she didn't question, sliding her arms in and starting to button it while I pulled on my boxers. "I'll shower as soon as I feed my child and meet you in the lobby by eight, I walked over to the door and pulled it open when he went to knock, hanging up the phone. "Hi son," I reached out for my cranky baby, who immediately burst into tears when he was shifted. "Was he like this all night?" I smoothed down his hair while he cried, his cheeks turning red from the force of his screams.
"No, only started recently, like I said, I think he wanted you."
"Hi buddy," Madison cooed from behind me, Rhett's head immediately snapping to the sound of her voice, "What's wrong?" He reached out for Madison, who wasted no time cradling my son in her arms. She was so natural at this, his entire body relaxing when he rested his head on her chest, forceful sniffles leaving his nose while he tried to calm down. "You're safe buddy, I'm here, Daddy is here," Madison turned on her heel, ignoring her father as she focused on Rhett, bouncing him as she maneuvered around the mess of clothes on the floor.
"Come in," I opened the door wider for Nash, letting him in before shutting the door behind him, giving us a little bit of privacy.
Nash leaned against the wall watching Madison in the bed, Rhett laying on her chest as she rubbed his back, "Can you get me a bottle?" Madison asked me, her eyes bouncing over to her Dad like it was the first time she had realized he was in the room, "Hi Dad." She smiled softly, before cooing down at Rhett when he let out a sniffle that shook his whole body. "I have you buddy, you're okay." Her fingers were trailing lightly up his little back and I smiled looking at the two of them.
It didn't matter what anyone else said, Rhett chose Madison to be his mother.
I opened up one of the carry-ons, digging around until I found a clean bottle, and started preparing the meal for Rhett. "How long?" Nash asked suddenly, my eyes landed on Madison, we hadn't had enough time to really plan on how we would answer all of Nash's questions. I was just going to follow along with what she said.
