Calvin Grimes

THEM

The group are walking down the road. Maggie is walking behind the group which makes Calvin and Rosita move back at each of her sides both taking her hands making her look at them with a small broken smile. Tara has her arm around Avery's waist which makes her lean her head on Tara's shoulder as Tara smiles fondly at her kissing her on the forehead. Calvin looks back as does Rick with both of them holding their daughters with Calvin having her daughter strapped to her chest and Rick holding his daughter in his arms. They look back at a herd behind them that's been following them for awhile. " We're not at our strongest. We'll get em when it's best. High ground, something like that. They're not going anywhere. It's been three weeks since Atlanta. I know Maggie lost something back there, She's barely said a word since" Rick tells his daughter who hums looking at her wives then to her daughter and sister who both coo in their arms " Their hungry." Spencer speaks up to the two causing them to look at her. " Their okay, Their gonna be okay" Calvin tells her in a gruff voice. As Daryl leaves one way into the woods and Calvin gives her daughter to Rosita and goes the other way to look for food and water. Carl pulls out a music box out of his bag and hands it to Maggie " Found this when we were looking for water." He tells her " What is it?" She asks " I think I used to play music" He says as she opens it but nothing comes out " It's broken" He then says " Thanks, Carl" Maggie says with a small smile making Rosita smile softly as she watches them

LATER

" Spence, look" Avery speaks up. Ahead of them is a pile of abandoned cars in the middle of the road. " I'll head back into the woods, Cal you stay here" Daryl says then tells her making her nod. Maggie opens a car door she approached as everyone else searches the others, but finding nothing vale, she spots the keys still in the trunk and prepares to open it, she slide the trunk open seeing a tied up walker in the trunk. She slams the trunk closed and walks around the car still hearing the walker banging on the inside of the trunk. Calvin walks up to her wife. " There's one in there. I shut it and it's still there" Maggie mumbles to her making Calvin nod her head and opens up the trunk, she takes out her knife, stabbing it though the head killing it. She turns around pressing her lips to her wife's forehead.

TIME SKIP

Daryl walks out of the woods after another search as Calvin hands him a piece of paper, seeing jugs and bottles of water all placed neatly In the middle of the road making him read it with it saying FROM A FRIEND " What do we do?" Avery asks " Nothing. This seems too.... I think we're being followed" Calvin says " You think we are?" Rick question " I mean it fits right? Whoever left this here has to be following us." Calvin says. Suddenly Eugene launches forward grabbing one of the bottles but Calvin slaps it out of his hand " We can't drink that" Calvin says then they suddenly hear rumbling in the sky above and rain begins to fall making everyone smile in relief " come on use anything we got to collect the water from the rain" Calvin tells everyone over the thunder that started happening

BARN-NIGHT

Maggie is laying on her side staring out at the darkness with tears in her eyes with Rosita sitting next to her staring at her wife.

Later in the night,Calvin is pacing in front of the doors with Oakley strapped to her chest sleeping soundly making Calvin kiss her head softly sighing over the fact that her kids won't know about the previous world before this one, she stops when she hears something looking though the small gap in the doors seeing walkers in the rai coming towards the barn, she quickly but gently gave her daughter to Rosita before running to the doors and pushing up against them making the others who are awake and asleep spring up after hearing her grunting struggling with the doors and they all run towards her helping her push against it, giving us amazing scene of everybody working together to keep each other safe.

MORNING

Everyone one but Maggie and Sasha are sound asleep, Calvin open her eyes feeling Rosita moving around in her hold before snuggling back in them.

( Author's Note- I know this chapter is short but I wanted to post something on this book instead of the other one but there will be more at some point.)
