"Hello." I popped my head out to the door. Lucas looked towards the door and smiled. If you didn't know, Lucas is my best friend, well, 2nd best friend, because Jesus has been my best friend since I was 14.
Okay! I'm a 19-year-old Christian with my 20-year-old Christian best friend, Lucas. I got saved when I was only 14—well, when I first found out who Jesus was.
After that, I fell in love with God's words. Some of them were cold, though. I can't say I was happy, but I can say that God has opened my eyes to reality. Life isn't perfect, but it is worth it as long as you live for God.
At first I felt empty and lonely, but it was spiritual warfare. Yeah, I don't like that, ugh! It didn't mean that I gave up.
Meet my best friend once again after 15 years together. Lucas and I are literally buddies, more like closer than ever. His whole family is Christian. I can say he's really blessed because he has a family who is blessed by God.
Lucas is sweet, humble, and pure, but that doesn't mean he's perfect. He struggles a lot, but I get to help him up.
I love helping people.
" Dee." My actual name is Delilah, but this is the new nickname he has given me for the 12th time in 12 years! Every year he gives me a nickname for my birthday.
Last year was sunshine; sometimes he calls me that, but most is Dee. It's cute. I came to his house to participate in a bible study group with his other friends. Our Friends.
We are the only ones in his room. "I haven't texted you today. How was your day, and how was it going with your life? Are you struggling with anything?" Lucas likes to put others before himself.
Cute.
"Today was great. I got my part-time job, and thinking about it today, I haven't struggled with anything surprisingly. Are you?" I jump on top of his bed.
"Great. To be honest, yes, but I would like to talk about it later, after everyone is gone, if that's okay." He starts setting up for when the others come. I start helping him. Lucas struggles a lot with his faith and sin, as we believers do.
"Jesus is not disappointed in you. He understands you." I whisper to his ears. I may not know what he is thinking or struggling right now, but I can help him with words. He smiles, showing his pretty braces.
Lucas goes to Yale University. Don't be surprised; he's actually really smart; he got a scholarship for it. I go to the same; I didn't want to go to that university because I wanted to go to a more not well known one, but my parents forced me.
So I obey them. Listen, my parents are not religious, and I tried to let them turn away from their sins, but they wouldn't listen; they think I became insane. So I let it go.
Sometimes I tried to bring something about it, but it wouldn't work. My parents are proud, and they think just because they have money, they don't need anyone.
The only reason they send me there is to show off. Just so you know, I'm humble.
"Yoo! I was waiting for this moment for someone to invite me to a bible study group. I haven't done it in 2 weeks."
Typical James. I can understand him, though he's pretty cool. He's eighteen and just entered college, but Lucas met him on a bench crying because he felt like he was distance from Jesus, and we helped him out.
"I brought snack!" Carlos always comes prepared for everything. Twenty-two also love Jesus. Lucas met him in church, where they were both praising the Lord. As he should.
"I brought pink highlighter!" Maddy is also one of my friends; well, all of them are my friends.
Girly pink just like me. I met her preaching the gospel on the street. It was amazing! Her words were incredible; she actually saved a few people. Twenty years old always bring the best highlighters.
