POV: Y/n
"When are we parting ways?" I ask the Mandalorian.
"I still need more credits before we can make the trip" He lands the ship in some sort of garage. "Stay here."
"Ya, ya." I reply, I sit with the kid as he sleeps in my lap. I understand why he needs to do this job. I haven't eaten yet today. And the food I was supposed to eat I gave the kid.
"I should get you to sleep," I thought aloud, looking at the small body on my lap. I pick up the kid and put him in his bed. The poor guy falls asleep instantly because of how exhausted he is. I go back up to the pilot seats.
I noticed that all of this time together has made me and the kids a lot closer. Although we can not talk I always feel like I can tell exactly what he is trying to say.
The Mandalorian told me about these people that he's doing the job with. They used to work together. He didn't tell me much, but he told me enough to not like these people.
I hear lots of footsteps coming onto the ship. A bug looking droid comes into the pilot area with shiny. "Don't tell anyone she's here." He says to the droid holding a gun to him. It sits down next to me and starts getting the ship ready.
"I didn't realize you were coming onto the ship." I tell the droid. It doesn't answer. "Just like talking to shiny." I say to myself.
It leaves for a second but comes back moments later. It starts the ship and we fly away.
For this to work I have to remain perfectly silent whilst the others are on the ship. Thankfully the Mandalorian sits with me for a while, until we go into hyperspace.
"Good luck!" I whisper to him.
"Thanks" he responds almost inaudibly. He joins the others back in the lower deck. I smile at the reply. It's stupid, but whenever he talks I feel less alone on this small ship.
"Dropping out of hyperspace now." The droid states into the intercoms for down stairs. I fall out of my seat and onto the ground. I hit my leg on something sharp. I push myself back up and wait till they all leave the ship.
When I'm sure they are gone I go into the lower deck to check on the kid. He coos at me and I sit down on the bed. His face turns sad as he looks at me. His stomach rumbles. His little wrinkled face makes it even worse to disappoint him.
"I know kid, I'm sorry but there is no food." I comfort him as my stomach growls. Me and the kid both sit there in silence until we hear the droid talking.
"It sounds like it's talking to itself." I say to the kid. "Let's go see."
Me and the kid go to the pilot area. The droid looks over at me and the kid. "Curious." He states. He goes and grabs a gun but so do I. I run back downstairs with the kid.
The droid follows us.
We hide in the Mandalorian, and the child's "sleeping quarters". (More like a mattress in a closet.) The droid's footsteps become louder as it steps closer. I ready my weapon and aim at the door. The kid sits in the middle of my criss-cross legs, calming me down.
The droid must know about the bounty on the child. My mind is racing as I realize the droid is trying to kill me. I squeeze the kid's tiny hand to mask my panic. If the droid gets the kid who knows what will happen!
The door opens and the kid raises his hand. I stare at him confused and so does the droid. I'm about to put down my weapon but the droid raises his at the kid. Quickly I take two shots, one in the left bug eye and the other in the right. The droid falls to the floor revealing the Mandalorian.
I get out of the bed and hug him tightly. "Please never do a job like this again!" I complain to him. He pulls away from the hug and nods to me. Realizing I must look like an idiot I look over to the kid. He is smiling at us.
I know it's probably wrong of a bounty like myself to like the person talking me to my doom, but I like him and I can't explain it. When I'm around him I feel safe, something I have not felt in a long time.
I happily take my seat as we fly into outer space. Blowing up that garage while we are at it to get rid of those assholes.
"Finally enough." The Mandalorian says to me. I smile awkwardly. It's kind of sad, but I'm going to miss this ship. But I also miss the simplicity of my home. Then my mind goes to my aunt. If she was sick when I left she's probably long gone at this point. I run out of the pilot deck so the Mandalorian doesn't see my guilt cries.
After a while of calming myself down I made it back to the pilot seats. Thankfully the Mandalorian doesn't ask me about it. I suppose he sees I am still upset.
