Hey loves
Right now, I'm on train traveling back to my work location from a rather refreshing weekend back home. I have 13 hours to spare during my journey and thought I write up this chapter.
This was typed from my mobile. So kindly as usual request you to ignore all typos.
Thanks for all your love and comments. You all are stars.
Enjoy the next chapter.
(I will be back next week. Since my week looks busy as a couple of team mates are going on leave and their tasks are assigned to me. And I'm already dreading it. )●●□□□□□□□□□□□●●
Khushi's POV
All I did for the past two hour was toss on the bed in the dark. Every damn sound scared me and I just couldn't sleep. As I felt my sleep win over my fear, I could hear a faint door creek and I could hazily feel someone move towards me. As I felt the person closer and closer towards me, my heart started to raise and I could feel my breathing started to get shallow, as though I was running out of breath, almost forgetting how to breath.
I literally shrieked when I felt some cold hand touching my hair, who immediately placed their palm on my mouth, silencing me.
"Shh, shh, it's me." - The voice told and the lights were soon turned on.
It was Arnav. He was my ghost.
Now this is a story that I am not going to live down.
"What the hell were you trying to do? Sneaking up on me?" - I almost yelled at him, holding my hand over my racing heart and he fell on me due to my sudden movement.
"I just thought I bring you an extra blanket, since it's raining heavily outside and it's getting cold." - Arnav replied smirking, as he threw the extra blanket on the bed.
As just when he was about to leave the room, the lights turnt off leaving us in absolute darkness. I had made a foolish decision of putting dark curtains in this room, so that Arnav can sleep in peace, despite the sunlight during the daytime. And due to this, this room is pitch dark now and my senses were heightened especially since I just watched a horror movie.
"Arnav" - I called up,although I am not sure if he is in the room anymore.
Something touched my waist and just when I was about to scream again, the voice -"I'm here, Khushi." and he caught hold of my wrist.
"I'm going to check the inverter. Stay right here." - He continued.
I honestly don't whether it was my fear of ghosts or the fact that he was leaving alone to defend them in this pitch darkness, I'm not proud of my next actions since I ended up hugging up. Full blown bear hug. I guess he was shocked at first but soon he too reciprocated.
He slowly yet carefully made me sit on the bed.
Arnav - "I will be back. Stay right here."
"Let me come with you. Don't leave me alone" - I honestly don't why I am crying at this point.
He managed to grab hold my face and squeeze my cheeks. How he managed that task is something only the God himself knew.
"You. Stay. Right. Here." - He whispered, squeezing my cheeks with every word.
"Close your eyes and count to 30. At 31, I will be right in front of you, possibly with the power back on." - He continued and I could hear some movement. I am guessing that he left the room.
I tried to search for my mobile at the bedside but unfortunately my phone was out of its juice. Damn!!
And so, I closed my eyes and started my count to 30. As I reached the count upto 25, I could still feel no movement. What's taking him so long? Did the ghost eat him alive?
I tried my best to stall my count to 30, since I could sense no movement next to me. Where's Arnav?? I opened my eyes and still it was pitch black and my throat was patched. I called out to Arnav but there was no response. What's taking him so long?As I tried to grab the glass jug in dark, I had unfortunately dropped it. I had realized this too late since the broken glass pieces pierced my foot.
"Shitt" I muttered in slight pain and just then Arnav entered holding his mobile with the flashlight on and couple of candles in his hand.
And so soon as he saw my leg, he sighed and gave me a dad look. That dad look of disappointment with slight annoyance. I'm not even kidding. My dad often gives me this look whenever I do things that he specifically told me not to do.
Handing me his mobile, Arnav went to kitchen and sweeped the glass pieces.
Upon depositing these pieces in the dustbin, he returned with a touch light and a first aid kit.
"I told you one thing. Stay on the bed." - he muttered sighing as he cleaned up my wound."I counted upto 35 and you weren't there." - I whispered in a meek tone. What happened to my voice? Why am I feeling shitty all of a sudden. It was his fault that he didnt come on time.
Arnav managed to remove those tiny painful glass pieces and tightly wraped my foot in a bandgage.
We ended up ordering dinner and quietly ate them in midst of several candles. And that's when I realized how handsome Arnav looked in candle light. His smile. His eyes. Wow, my husband is handsome.
Arnav's POV
(Two hours later)
Khushi and I ended sleeping in the bed room. Nope, tried to sleep since Khushi woke up with every thunderclap and every cricket sound. Watching horror movie was clearly a bad idea.I ended up pulling Khushi tightly to my chest and she clearly hated it. I guess, that invisible bed boundary is real time. But, jokes on her, since she ended up crushing into my chest as the night passed on. And I ended enjoying every bit of bit as I embraced her in my arms.
Khushi's POV
I woke up to the sight of Arnav's lips. I was literally in his cocoon. This is embrassing. Super embrassing. And just as fate would have it, Arnav stired from his sleep and he looked at me in his sleepy draze. I felt myself growing red and suddenly warm.
"Good morning" - He huskily whispered and that legit sent butterflies in my stomach.
"Morning." - I managed to reply and pulled the blanket over my head, feeling shy of all sudden.
"How's your feet?" - he asked as he pulled the blanket off me.
What happened to my feet? Why is my brain not braining?
"Khushi?" - he looked at me slightly alarmed and tugged those loose strands of hair, behind my ear.
He cupped my cheeks making me look directly into his eyes and asked again,"your feet is hurting?"
I tried to pull myself off his embrace and shift to the other side of bed. Far away from this handsome mess of my husband. The keyword being tried and falling miserably since Arnav ended up embracing me even tighter and I was literally breathing into his neck.
