The rest of the day passes me slowly and I want nothing more than to go home and crash in my bed. Once I get off work I rush home and order take out. When I'm halfway down with my chicken and fried rice my phone buzzes.

Todd: Hey I'm bored wanna hang out?

Ugh. I check the time and it's almost 7, but I'm kinda all ready to stay in for the night. I showered, changed, and took off my makeup.

Adeline: I'm kinda tired. Maybe another time :)

He answers right away.

Todd: How about a date for tomorrow? We could play mini golf.

Darn it. I love mini golf, but the idea of spending more time with him does not really appeal to me. How are you ever gonna get a boyfriend if you never give the guy a chance Adeline? Maybe he's just rough on the outside. I don't know him all that well. I sigh.

Adeline: That could be fun. What time?

Todd: Cheap golf starts at 8pm. I'll grab you at 7:30?

Adeline: Sounds good

I'm an incredibly stupid stupid girl. What am I doing?

Sunday morning comes quickly and I enjoy the warmth of the sun as it leaks through my curtains. I do appreciate that Frank keeps us closed on Sunday. I rise off the couch and slowly make my way to my closet and as I walk I check my phone and see a text from my mom and sister.

Mom: A week from today. Don't forget.

Paisley: Hey is it weird if my fiancé steals my socks? I know you have no personal experience, but it feels weird.

I reply back.

Adeline: If they are clean that's ok, but if they are dirty I can't help you.

I put on simple white pants and a sage green top for church and take coffee to go. The sermon today was short and about community, which was nice since I have access to such a great one. When my grandpa died all the church people came to my aid and it's one of the reasons I started going again. It was my grandpa's church and it felt like he was pushing me back on track. I feel as though I owe it to him to try.

As I'm walking by to my car my phone buzzes in my pocket. The person immediately puts a smile on my face.

Sunshine: Can we meet up? Like now?

Adeline: Depends on what type of meet up

Sunshine: Do you wanna get ice cream?

Adeline: If my answer is ever no to the question I give you permission to shoot me with my nerf gun

Sunshine: Noted.

Adeline: Text the address and I'll meet you there :)

The address he send me leads me to a colorful ice cream shop on a small corner not far from a thrift store I go to. I walk in and see him already sitting down. He has a bouquet of tulips in all colors and a large bag of hot tamales. He's currently in deep thought looking at his phone with a little frown. He is also dressed very casually. Navy blue shorts and a white t-shirt. He is so very plain. I'm gonna change that soon. We are gonna thrift together. I walk over to him and sit across from him.

"Hi sunshine." I say in the most cheerful voice I can muster.

"Don't call me that."

I love messing with him. It's too easy.

"I can do what I want," I pause, "Sunshine."

He just shakes his head and smirks. I'm gonna make him give me a big smile one day. Some day soon. I can feel it.
