“Tonight will be the night that I will fall for you,
Over again,
Don’t make me change my mind.
For I won’t live to see another day,
I swear it’s true.
Because a girl like you is impossible to find,
You’re impossible to find.”
Fall For You – Secondhand Serenade
Harry silently woke from a painful yet wonderful night sleep. Words couldn’t describe how much pain he was in. Every muscle on his body ached, along with a pounding headache from taking a blow to the head with a frying pan. He winced at any sudden movements. But as his head slightly tilted down to watch the sleeping girl in his arms, it was like all the pain went away.
She looked angelic. Her dirty blonde hair covered some of her features while she cuddled up into Harry’s limp body, her breath warming his bare chest. Harry swiped the unwanted hairs away from her face, and she scrunched her nose up subconsciously due to the sunlight now hitting her face. She snuggled in closer to Harry to block the sunlight, and he couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. How did he get so lucky?
He thought about how his life would go on with Bella in the picture. She was his rock; the only thing that made him happy. She needed him just as much as he needed her. Here, in their own little world, things were perfect.
However, in the real world, things were far from it.
Harry slowly got up from the bed and left to the kitchen, but not before tucking Bella back in properly and pressing a loving kiss to her little forehead, causing her and him to smile. He poured himself a glass of water before thinking once again.
Harry was a dangerous boy, everyone knew it. Even himself. Even Bella. Sweet, innocent little Bella. She didn’t belong here in such an ugly, unforgiving town, where danger lurked around every corner. Bella was a target for everyone with her beautiful face and innocent written all over her.
As for Harry, he was the person everyone wanted to avoid. Nobody messed with the monster he was; the cold, heartless boy he was forced to become before he met Bella. Bella gave him feeling, warmth, happiness. Everything he had always wanted. However, she also gave him weakness, vulnerability. Being with Bella meant having a weakness that his enemies could use against him. And his enemies would stop at nothing to seem Harry go down, not even to spare the life of a beautiful girl. Harry and Bella are the missing puzzle pieces for each other, but them being together was also a death wish.
So, what would Harry do? He as undoubtedly fallen hard for this girl, and he wanted her. Bad. But is that the best thing for Bella? Would Bella give him a weakness that he’s not strong enough to overcome? Will he be able to protect her when she was in trouble?
Harry’s painful thoughts were interrupted by an ear-piercing scream coming from up in his bedroom. He couldn’t even process his thoughts long enough before his protective instincts kicked in, and was sprinting back to his room, ignoring every ounce of pain shooting through his body with each desperate stride he took.
The screaming didn’t stop when he reached the bedroom and found her struggling in his bed, still deep in sleep. Harry ran to her side, discovering tears falling from her closed eyes, and the distressed look on her face.
“Bella!” Harry frantically screamed, “Bella, wake up! Wake up!”
He shook her frail body numerous amounts of times before she finally shot up in bed. Her light green eyes were red and puffy as her eyes anxiously searched the room, tears still falling from her face. When her eyes finally met with Harry’s she immediately wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and began sobbing even louder. Harry, confused and worried, climbed back into bed with Bella and rocked her back and forth in his arms, whispering into her ear. As relieved as he was that she was not in any real danger, he still couldn’t have been any more worried.
