Chapter 2.5 Manipulative Words

Ed tried knocking on the door again as he forgot what happened prior. A voice answered. "Come in," it said, the voice raspy and more like a business woman.
He opened the door and took a deep breath before walking towards the desk that the woman sat at. He pulled the chair on his side away and sat down, sitting with his smooth hands clenched on his locked-tigether knees.

"Hello there." The short woman greeted.
"Hello." Poe replied awkwardly, he didn't know exactly why he was there, all he knew was that it was some kind of business arrangement.

"I'm sure my recipient explained why you are here when he called you, correct?" She questioned.

Poe shook his head. "No, actually. All I was told is that this is some sort of a business arrangement." He was genuinely confused as he believed it was something to do with the Guild, despite him no longer being apart of it eversince they broke apart.

The woman sighed. "That damn, good for nothing Sora! He can never get anything done right." She got up from her chair. "Allow me to explain why you're here. I called upon you to make a deal."

"A deal?" Edgar thought to himself before speaking, "a deal you say? May I ask what kind?"

"An exchangement. I'll give you something and you'll complete a task for me."

"But why me? And what will I be getting?" He felt something wrong.

"You see...I chose you because you were the only one who could complete this task without being suspicious."

Suspicious. What did she mean by that? Edgar certainly wouldn't know until he learnt what he would have to do. It must've been dangerous aswell.
"What am I getting myself into?" He thought as he surveyed his head for all of the dangerous things he could be tasked, for example, blowing up a building. "..." He waited for the female to finish talking.

"And, the object you'll be recieving, isn't much of an object, but something else..."

If it's not an object, what could it be?

"..which is?"

That was something Poe yearned for. He knew he had to get it. But, when he heard what the task was, he refused. He could never do that. He could never blow up a hospital, full of people. That was just too far, even for what he would be given in return. But he couldn't get the thoughts out..those words she told him, the ones she convinced him with..they kept repeating and repeating and repeating in his mind.

"Oh, but don't you want it?~ If you really love him, you would do it, wouldn't you?"

"You wouldn't want to put him in danger, would you? So do it. Blow it up. Do it for him. You know you can't refuse if it's for his safety~"

Shit. He had trapped himself in something he couldn't get out of. It was a trap. No matter how hard he could've tried to avoid it, he would still fall for it.

But what was it that he wanted to keep safe so much from this monster who threatened to take away from him? Well, it was..

..Ranpo.

It was Ranpo who he wanted to protect. Rae had threatened to take him away and torture him. She had threatened to slowly kill him day by day and repeat the torture again and again. Poe couldn't imagine letting his beloved be a victim of that. It sickened him. He couldn't imagine someone do such vile things to him, or anyone in fact, but especially Ranpo. He loved Ranpo with all his heart.

And the thing that he would get in return, it was..

..Ranpo's heart.

Somehow, Rae could guarantee that he would fall in love with Poe. But maybe she was wrong. Maybe it wouldn't happen and fail. But Edgar believed her. He believed her. He believed her because he thought she was saying the truth. A truth that never existed. Because, he wouldn't get it. He already had it. He just didn't know that yet.

He didn't realise that all those hangouts they've had, the sleepovers and more, Ranpo classed as dates. Dates. Poe just thought it was a friendly hangout, nothing more.

And he still hasn't realised that. He won't for awhile, atleast.

Im SO SO SO SO SO sorry that this is late!! I was expecting to do this last week but I didn't have the motivation, plus, my insomnia had gotten worse and I felt way too deprived to write. Butttttttt, my writing has improved!!
Ive been reading so many good fics and been on character ai a bit which helped MASSIVELY. Especially with the fact that school is coming up in less than a month. I start on September 6th hehe
