As she walks down the hallway, Carmen hears Rhea shouting Damian's name before the door slams. She makes her way to her room. She's opening the door when Damian catches up to her.
"Hey." He speaks softly.
"Hey." Carmen chokes out.
She holds the door open for him and he walks in with her following behind him. Carmen watches as he paces the floor by the window, rubbing at his neck.
"I just can't believe she'd do something like this. How could she be so stupid?" He rants.
Carmen sits on the edge of the bed and shrugs softly.
"How long have they...been together?" She asks.
Damian stops pacing and looks at her, his face softening.
"A few years now. He's a good guy. Neither of you deserve to be played like this." Damian replies.
"Are they close?" She asks.
"Very. That's why it doesn't make sense she would do this. They do everything together when they have breaks at the same time. Go to the beach. He takes her on dates all the time. They even did livestreams together before work got in the way. He's smitten with her."
Carmen drops her head and tears start flowing again.
"I feel so stupid. I'm a home wrecker." She says.
Damian walks over and sits on the bed next to her, rubbing her back.
"No, princesa. You didn't know. This is on Rhea and Rhea alone. She should never have done this. She's a fool. A player." He says.
"Someone has to tell Buddy." Carmen looks at him.
Damian sighs, "all in due time. For now we should get to the airport."
Carmen dries her tears and nods. Damian says he'll meet her at the airport as he has to go back to his room for his bags. Once he leaves, she's left alone with her thoughts as she packs up.
Thoughts of wrecking someone's relationship. Hurting someone she doesn't even know by flirting and ultimately fooling around with his girlfriend. The disgust she feels for herself has drained every ounce of confidence she normally has.
The Uber ride is silent. The driver doesn't attempt to make conversation and she's grateful for it. She just wants to be alone with her thoughts. To have some space and time to process how she's feeling.
Space and time are what she has very little of though as the drive to the airport was pretty short. Carmen sighs and goes inside, getting her pass and boarding the plane. She checks her seat number and makes her way down the aisle.
When she spots Rhea sitting in the aisle seat, headphones around her neck and phone in hand, she double checks her ticket and sighs. Rhea looks up at her, and shame immediately crosses her face.
"Fucking great." She mumbles and looks up at the overhead bin, opening it.
"Here let me help." Rhea says and goes to stand.
"Don't." Is all Carmen says as she picks up her duffle and slides it into the bin.
Rhea sighs a little and stays in her seat as Carmen slips in front of her to sit in the seat by the window. She looks down at her phone and scrolls through Twitter, liking random tweets by her fans.
"Can we talk?" Rhea whispers.
Carmen keeps her eyes on her phone, scrolling through her timeline.
"Carmen look at me.." She presses.
Instead of looking at her, Carmen settles back into her seat and yawns as she retweets some fan art. Rhea sighs softly and leans back in her own seat, pulling her headphones over her ears. Carmen cringes a little when she faintly hears Slaughterhouse coming from them.
She locks her phone and sets it on her lap, leaning her head back on the seat and looking out the window. Her eyes grow heavy and she falls asleep.
A couple hours later, Carmen is awoken by the captain speaking on the intercom, announcing their arrival at their destination. He asks that they buckle up if they're not already, and prepare to land in a few minutes.
Carmen stretches a little and yawns as she sits up in her seat. She looks across the aisle at Damian and Dom who are laughing at something Finn said from the aisle seat in front of her. She smiles faintly at Damian when he glances her way with a concerned look.
The plane is descending when Carmen's phone buzzes. She looks down at it to find a text message from Rhea. Her eyes glance over slightly in her direction and can tell she's looking back at her, hoping she'll answer.
Sighing, Carmen opens the message and reads it.
Tonight after the supershow, please just let me explain.
The plane lands and Carmen looks up, locking her phone as people start to leave. She immediately stands, scoots past Rhea, grabs her bag from the overhead bin and walks off the plane without so much as another glance in her direction.
Carmen is nearly out of the airport when Damian catches up to her.
"Hey. Are you alright? Did she bother you too much?" He asks.
"I'm okay. She tried but I ignored her and she eventually took the hint." Carmen replies.
"Good. She doesn't deserve to talk to you." He says.
Carmen can tell Damian is quite angry with Rhea. It surprises her considering they're so close. She really fucked up though. Now she might lose both a friend and her boyfriend. Carmen almost feels bad.
Almost.
