Chapter 3

"We can't leave." Josh refused,as he stood up and paced the living room.The wounded expression on his face told me that he didn't want to leave.This was his home.He grew up here.He grew from a boy to a man here.Hell,he even asked his first girlfriend out here!Granted the relationship didn't end well,but still.

"We have to.Either we leave now or we die."The words that left my mouth left no room for discussion.The look on his face proved that he knew I was right.Standing up, I walked across the room to peak out the window. The sight was more horrendous than before.Not only was there body lying on the ground motionless,but there were body parts being flung in every direction.

My eyes squinted together as my friend Charlie was grabbed by two rogues,while another was walking his way.I couldn't watch what was about to occur.It was easy to piece together what was going to happen to Charlie.My eyes slowly re-opened to see him lying on the ground,only his head and arms were longer attached to his body.His eyes were open,fear was still evident.A sob escaped my lips as I saw some more of my friends in almost the exact way as Charlie.I couldn't bare to watch this anymore.

"We need to go now."My voice cracked.Turning,I saw Josh nod,then sprint up the stairs,I assumed to get Evan.I slowly spun back towards the window,moving back the red,satin curtains just slightly,so that if anyone looked to the house they wouldn't spot me.

Two rogues were walking to the house.Their emotionless face made them more scarier than they already were.Their clothes were drenched in blood,with dirt mixed in.If I wasn't scared before,I definitely was now.They were at least twenty feet away,which doesn't give us long to get out of here.As I watched them get closer and closer,I could hear Josh and Evan's footsteps as they came downstairs.

"I packed us all some clothes and got some waters and protein bars."Josh said while he zipped up his bag.I nodded to him when I was facing them.Evan was staring down at our mom,tears were shining in his eyes.My heart broke just looking at him,just like Josh,he was completely attached to mom.

Making my way to him,I wrapped my arms around him.It took him a couple seconds before he responded,wrapped his arms around me so tight that I could hardly breathe but I just ignored it.Holding his head to me,I stroked his hair as I whispered soothing words to him while constantly telling him it would be okay.

Josh cleared his throat from behind Evan.I looked at him and he gave me a pointed look then looked towards the window and door.He was telling us it was time to go and I completely agree.Those rogues will be here any minute now.I pushed Evan away,just a little, so that i could tell him what we're doing.He refused at first but then agreed when he heard another blood curdling scream.His eagerness to leave would have been funny,if not for the situation we were in.

Just as we were opening the back door we heard the front door being beat down.Bang...Bang...Bang. Each hit echoed around the house.We all stayed silent,so that if they were listening in,they wouldn't hear anything.

'Go.'I mouthed to Josh,nodding to the door.Evan was still in my arms as we followed Josh.He slowly turned the nob and pulled the door open just a bit.Slowly the door started inching wider,he could yank it to fast because it squeaks.Bang...Bang...CRACK! My eyes widened as I looked to see a huge gap in the front door.Big enough so that you could see into the house.Quickly,I moved in front of Josh and yanked the door open,not caring if the rogues heard us.If we stayed there any longer then we'd be dead.

Pushing Josh and Evan out the door,I swiftly shut it,just as the rogues busted into the house.Looking back at the boys,I saw them staring at their surroundings.Same as the front yard,there was blood coating the ground and bodies everywhere.

"Wow.This is like COD."Evan said excitedly then,is expression morphed into despair and anger."Except this is real and it's my family."He mumbled,looking towards the ground,hiding his face. There was no need though.You could see the tears in his eyes as he spoke.

I heard crashing and banging from inside and knew that they were tearing the place down.Looking everywhere around me,I made sure there was no one coming."Go to the woods,now."I said,as noticed the two rogues inside the house were walking to the back of the house,where we were just right outside.

Josh lead the way to the woods,Evan was in the middle of us,while I was at the back.Looking in every direction,I saw some of the pack members looking at us with a mixture of emotions.Anger,sadness,fear,some even smiled sadly at me while nodding.Tears brimmed my eyes as I returned the action.They carried on fighting after that,pure concentration and determination on their faces.I felt proud to call them my pack,even though the winner of this battle was not us, they still tried with all their hearts to fight.

"We have to leave,Rosie.We can't help them.I'm sorry."Josh said,as we made it into the woods.I agreed with him,but I also couldn't help to disagree.We can help.We have to.This people are our family and they are fighting for their lives.

"Josh,we have to help them."I pleaded with my eyes.The look of heartache was evident on his face as he looked at the lifeless bodies,but their was also satisfaction as he watched them fight.You could see that he was proud of his pack.

"We can't."He said,his face going emotionless as he walked farther into the woods.The tone of voice he used left no room for discussion.I stayed in my spot,watching everything go down.I sighed in defeat as I started walking once again.Just when I was almost facing Josh and Evan again,something caught my eye.Stopping mid-step,I faced the something and saw it was a man fighting two wolves and three other men.I took a step closer to get a better look of the man and realized who it was.

"Dad."I mumbled.My eyes were wide in fear as I watched the fight continue.The odds were not in my fathers favor either.As I continued watching them,I turned slightly to see Josh and Evan watching the fight,too.I crept closer,too captivated by the fight to notice I was slowly walking out of the woods.

"Rose!Get back here!Your gonna get caught!"Josh whisper shouted.I ignored him,as I noticed another wolf sneaking behind my dad.His crouched position showed that he was getting ready to pounce.Nothing registered in my mind as my legs took off towards the rogue.As I ran,I could faintly hear Josh screaming,but before I could even turn to give him a questioning look,I was tackled to the ground.

Angry growls were heard from above me and paw was jabbing into my chest,pushing me into the ground.I looked up to see bright amber eyes staring down at me,pure rage and blood lust was noticeable.It made me disgusted.

I looked straight into its eyes and glared,which caused it to push its paw into my chest more while extending its claws,so that it was just slightly in my skin.Holding my pain inside,I didn't make a sound.It seemed to get angrier by this and moved its head closer,growling louder.I rolled my eyes at this,then glared into its eyes again and growled out,"Oh bite me."Before I was even able to indicate what was about to happen,I felt sharp teeth being stabbed into my neck.

"Rose!"Was the only thing I heard as I let out a blood curdling scream of my own, as its teeth dug in deeper.
