John drives, and Emma chatters away about all the fun things she wants to do at the fair you nod in agreement as you braid her hair. And the Baroness? She's sitting sour-faced staring out the car window. You smirk. 'Baroness?' she turns as she does you plant a kiss on her cheek and wink at her. The Baroness is a little startled but her face relaxes into a smile. John parks the car, you lean down. 'Now darling it's important you stay in my sight at all times and you must run off okay?' Emma nods holding up her pinky. 'I pinky promise.' she vows. There are many rides and amusement for fairground visitors to enjoy, it's busy and there are mime artists and performers on stilts in avant guarde clothes performing tricks. Emma is on a tangent about everything around her and how exciting it all is. The problem is you kind of forgot you were now a mother of one child and one adult brat. The Baroness stops seeing a claw machine that distributes gigantic toys and there in the middle of the multi-coloured ball pit is a giant Dalmatian plushy.

Victoria walks over to it in a trance, then spots an arcade assistant. 'I wish to purchase that.' The bored-looking arcade assistant pops his gum. 'Sorry you gotta play to win him, we can't sell them, ma'am.' Victoria glares at him not understanding the word can't. 'Do you know who I am?' her voice is menacing. 'Baroness.' you interrupt she spins on her heel looking at you. Your eyes dart to Emma, reminding her that the girl is there and she can't throw a classic tantrum. Victoria rolls her eyes. 'Oh, fine.' she stomps her foot, and John smirks. 'John, I need the small money.' John looks confused. 'Small money your ladyship?' The Baroness points at the coin slot which accepts 50ps. 'Don't you have any money?' you look confused. 'Of course not dear, it's not appropriate for nobility to walk around jingling. John takes out his wallet and secures change for his boss. 'I want to go on the rollercoaster.' Emma declares. She's too little for the big ones but there is a little kid one, shaped like a caterpillar you take her to. When you get off Emma runs over to John pointing at the spinning teacups.

With a sigh, John joins her and looks ridiculous in his smart suit sitting amongst the children on the oversized cups. When you go back inside Victoria is still at the claw machine. 'Heaven's sake.' she grumbles as the claw drops the Dalmatian plushy again. 'Hey, do you want to come on the carousel with me?' Victoria waves you away. 'I almost have it, fetch John, I need more of the small money.' she puts another coin in the machine. You quirk an eyebrow and do another handover with a peaky-looking John who has just come off the teacup ride. 'Victoria requires your presence in the arcade.' John stumbles a little. 'Gladly.' he goes back inside and approaches the Baroness who points to the change booth. John sighs opening his wallet and taking out another note exchanging it for coins and handing them to his boss just as the claw drops the Dalmatian again. 'Baroness.' he hands over the little bag of coins. Victoria punches his arm. 'You made me lose concentration you imbecile I almost had it there!'

John rubs his upper arm as he joins you and Emma at the open hut, for a little woman she throws a mean punch. Emma sits on a high stool as a young girl paints a butterfly on her face. 'All done madam.' the girl holds up the mirror to let her little client inspect her work. 'Wow, I'm beautiful.' she whispers dreamily. Emma smiles seeing John. 'You know what would be fun?' John gulps.... He doesn't know how his job has him with a purple butterfly painted across his face or why he is in the oversized teacups for the fifth time in a row but he knows he is dangerously close to vomiting on the surrounding children. 'Victoria, we are going to get food, why don't you join us?' you stand beside her biting into a pink cloud of candyfloss. 'In a minute, bring me John.' she waves you away. Heading back outside you see Emma trying to drag John onto the teacups again. 'John, Victoria-' 'Happy to.' he doesn't wait for you to finish your sentence and makes his escape. Inside Victoria points to the change booth and John sighs opening his wallet and exchanging it for more coins handing them over to the Baroness.

You hold Emma and you both squeal as you go down the waterslide, when John returns he is dragged back to the teacups against his will. You again try to coax Victoria from the machine but she isn't having it. 'What the hell sort of a trick is this?!' she bangs her fists on the class window blocking her from her prize and an alarm goes off. 'Fetch John-' 'Toria.' you interrupt gently taking her hand and she looks at you as though just realising you are there. 'You are supposed to be spending time with Emma you haven't left this damn machine since we arrived.' Victoria sighs in defeat seeing the look in your eyes. 'Ugh, very well if I must.' she finally agrees to part from the machine. You both head outside to meet a very green-looking John and a hyper-looking Emma. 'Okay chicken, what are we doing next?' you crouch down to her. 'Please no more teacups, please, please.' John mutters to himself.

Emma thinks for a moment then points to the haunted house. 'I want to go there.' she beams. 'Sweety do you not think that will be a little bit too grown up for you? It might be scary.' Emma stomps her foot, a characteristically well-known Victoria stunt you shoot the Baroness a look of irritation. 'What?' she hasn't picked up on it. You stand with a sigh. 'Okay, will we all go?' John lies down on a wooden picnic bench. 'Go on without me.' You chuckle then look at the Baroness. 'What about you? Unless you are too scared?' The Baroness juts out her jaw indignantly. 'Of course not, let us go.' she keeps her head held high leading the way to the haunted house attraction. The three of you enter Emma copying Victoria takes the lead the first thing you come across is a moving floor, Emma struggles and falls you help her but end up falling too you are both laughing. When you get to the other side you see Victoria staring with a raised eyebrow, you look at her high heels. 'Do you need help?'

With a perfect strut, the Baroness model walks flawlessly across the floor. 'Honestly, you both made such a fuss of that.' The Baroness takes the lead again. An actor in the house jumps out in a scary clown costume letting out a roar. Emma squeals hiding behind you, you jump in fright. The Baroness blinks once and purses her lips eye to eye with the clown. 'You need a mint.' The clown looks offended and slumps his shoulders walking back to his hiding position to scare the next visitor. 'No need to be so mean.' he sniffs. Leave it to fucking Victoria to make a clown cry. Turning the corner a large jack in the box springs open, Emma squeals dropping your hand and running off. 'Emma!' you hit panic mode as she crawls through a tunnel and you scramble after her. The Baroness rolls her eyes and precedes her march in a different direction decidedly unafraid of the haunted house. Until she walks up to what she thinks is a dead end, she sighs in irritation getting bored of it all.

When she turns the way she had entered is gone and she sees her reflection in the wall mirror. Victoria's eyebrow quirks and she turns to see another mirror, walking forward she bangs into another mirror which is not the exit. 'Heaven's sake!' she growls. There is a flash and she jumps looking around all she can see is her own reflection. The strobe light flashes again and she jumps, her heartbeat increases using her hands to feel her way forward the strobe light starts flashing more violently. 'No.' she speaks to herself. "Baroness! Baroness!!" "Over here!" "Can we get an exclusive on prison?" "How was it going from riches to rags?" "She looks so much older now." "Not loving the attention like she used to." Victoria raises her hands to shield her face. 'P-please, stop no more pictures.' she covers her face sliding down the mirror her breathing is out of control. It's only when she feels the little arms around her that she looks up to see Emma hugging her. 'It's okay, Auntie yn said none of this is real.'

For a moment Victoria is frozen as the child brings her back to reality she closes her eyes hugging her tightly as a tear betrays her. 'Emma! Damnit I just told you about running off!' They both hear you. 'Auntie Yn! The pretty lady is scared,' she stops hugging the Baroness and wanders back the way she came. 'I found her, over here!' she calls and you run to her glad she is okay but seeing the Baroness wipe a tear away and struggle to get to her feet you immediately go to her, your eyes dart around and you work it out. The flashing, she's terrified of it. 'I've got you pretty girl.' you hug her tightly rubbing her back. You wrap an arm around her escorting her out of the attraction keeping a firm grip on Emma's hand so she doesn't run off again.
