It took Chris six hours to drive to Ramand University. When Chris arrived, on Monday, at his new apartment he was so warn out and tired that he just left all his belongings in his car, and went up the stairs to crash on his new bed.It was six in the evening when Chris arrived. He didn't leave until noon because he was caught up with his siblings. He loved his family so much, they meant the world to him. Chris even spent an hour just talking to one of his sisters who was having guy trouble.
Leaving, was hard for him. He wanted to be able to be at his family's side at a moments call. But moving here meant that that is not possible. Sure he would be able to get there in emergencies, but he likes to be there for the little things.
As Chris sat there, he started thinking about this course in law that he was getting himself into. Is this really going to work out? He thought. Or am I just doing another stupid thing to ruin my life?
Then he got slightly hungry. Which isn't really any surprise, Chris hadn't eaten sense he left his parents house. Getting up he remembered that he didn't have any food yet. So, Chris left to go to a fast food restaurant.
Parking his car at Wendy's, Chris turned off his slow classical music. Yes, sometimes he likes to listen to classical music. It calms his thoughts down. Chris walked to the door of the restaurant wondering how he was going to be able to get past this school year.
As he walked in he saw a poster on the wall. It caught his attention with a picture of a ballroom couple doing what looked like a complex lift. The poster read, in big lettering:
See the ballroom dancers Zipporah and Gregory,
this Saturday August 15th, 7pm.
Somehow this I seemed interesting to him. Chris never before saw professional dancers preform, and he never wanted to. In fact he even had the chance to more then once, but always backed out because it seemed boring to him. But today, as he looked at that poster, he wanted to watch them dance.
"You interested in going to that?" Said the girl behind the counter. "They are really good. Every ballroom dancer learning to dance around here, look up to those two. I'm sure you would like it!"
"I have never wanted to see something like this before."Chris replied, then after a short pause continued saying. "But, I'm new here and I think this would be a great first night out."
Then Chris quickly took out his phone and snapped a picture of the poster to remember it.
"Well, I agree that you should go. It would be the perfect way to meet people to. They always have a mix and mingle type of thing after these big performances. And almost everyone around goes. " The girl said. "But I am sure you came in here to eat, not talk about a ballroom dance event."
"Yeah, you are right I did want some food." Chris replied turning away from the poster to continue walking to the counter.
-A few days later-
Only here, in his new apartment, Chris felt like he knew what he was doing. Here he could be at peace with every thing in his life. One week has gone by quite uneventful. He started classes on Tuesday, they were exactly how he expected they would be, boring. Not to say that being a lawyer is boring, but to Chris it was. He had always wanted to be a chef, but after a dramatic experience at culinary school, he thought it best to do something more sophisticated. Being a lawyer was his way of giving up and trying to make everyone believe that he would be something amazing.
