Once Doctor Rogers exits the room, I waste no time in crawling under the covers with Kalani.
I wrap her up in my arms and feel her warmth as she curls up next to me.
"You're not mad at me anymore, are you?" I ask. I hadn't even thought about this before now. What if she won't forgive me for the fight we had?
"I can never stay mad at you," she says.
"Good because I love you," I tell her.
The smile on her face as she says, "Ditto," is absolutely precious.
Now I understand why she hated me saying that so much.
It really does just take the joy out of saying I love you because when you say it, you want to hear it back.
"I love you too," she corrects herself.
Now we're both smiling as we lean in for a kiss.
