One of Seb's Marvel co-stars had been in New York for a while, but he had been learning lines and things for a new play he was starting in. That's why we hadn't been able to meet him yet. It was his second time being on Broadway and Seb scored tickets opening night, asking me if I'd like to go. Harry was also going and since Chace was in town, he was going too.
The thing about going anywhere with Sebby or Chace, was the risk of being linked to one of them in articles or social media. Their fans get kind of protective, or defensive, or whatever it is they feel when the guys are pictured out on the town and a woman is in any proximity to them. I'd learned that quickly from day one.
Since there was a high possibility of pictures, I needed to dress up a little. I didn't want to necessarily be in pictures, but I didn't want to embarrass anyone by showing up in the wrong clothes. Since Chace's sister is married to Tony Romo, she had some nice dresses in the apartment they owned in New York which was where Chace was staying. He had told her about the premiere and she told him to get me over to pick a dress out.
I was so out of my comfort zone. I told Chace to pick one out since his sister and I were the same size because I had no idea what to wear. He showed up early to my apartment and we made a day of it. I already had my hair and makeup almost done when he got there with lunch and the dress. We ate while we laughed and joked about this and that. He was adorable and it was easy to talk to him, but we still had a different kind of relationship than Seb and I.
Once we were done eating, and had a little day drinking to ease my nerves, I tried the dress on, hoping it would fit because if it didn't I was going to refuse to go. I went to my room to change and was actually impressed with how I looked.
It wasn't something I would think to choose, but I liked it. I just had to get out of my own head because even though I have some big named friends now, this was new and I wasn't much into showing off. This outfit felt like it screamed, 'look at me!', but I liked it and knew my mind was playing tricks on me. Eventually, Chace yelled through the door to me.
"Are you done yet?"
"Yes."
"Well, let's see it then."
"I think it's a bit much Chace."
"What's that mean?"
"I mean, I'm not used to dressing up a lot and it's showing skin."
"I'm coming in."
I was already at the door when he said that so I opened it. Chace met me with a smile. "You look smokin' hot."
"That's it. I'm not going." My phone started ringing and I turned to grab it while Chace was grabbing at my other hand and protesting.
"Wait! What do you mean? You are going! You're going. It was a compliment."
