Kate was breathing heavily while running up upstairs and into the hallway, the halls felt much move longer than before. She didn't know where to go she quickly walked into Victor's office. She didn't see any figures in there. She kept thinking about what she overheard Victor say about them to his sisters and Sophie about her being Sophie's mother and Victor's future bride.
A little while later, She finally managed to calm down. She paced back and forth thinking what is going on? Why does she keep seeing mask figures? Why did she feel terrified of them? And why were they all acting strange?
Kate looked at the time on Victor's computer and saw it was already 11: 50 p.m. Kate was still breathing heavily when Penelope came into his office and saw Kate look confused.
"Kate, what's wrong dear?"
Kate was startled by Penelope.
"Penelope, what's going on? I heard Victor talking to you and the others about me being Sophie's mother and being his future wife. I don't understand."
"To be honest Kate I don't understand it either."
"Really?"
"Of course."
Penelope walked over to the little bar that Victor had in his office, She continued to talk to Kate about what she thought about the whole situation.
" it doesn't make any sense You just got here about only a month and a half ago, and all these things are happening strangely isn't it?"
"Yes, it is."
Kate sat on the loveseat couch in Victor's office. Penelope fixed her a drink, she also fixed Kate one too.
"If you ask me Victor is better off being a single father."
"I don't know about that he did say he would like to share his life with someone again."
"I see well that's him."
Penelope turned around and had two cups of wine in her hands. She walked over to Kate, she handed her a cup of wine.
"Here drink this."
"No, I'm not in the mood to drink."
"Come on this will make you feel better, I made it, especially for you."
Kate took a deep breath and exhaled out, staring at the glass of wine for a moment realizing Penelope was right.
"Alright."
As Penelope handed Kate the glass of wine, she was about to drink it. She took a deep breath in and closed her eyes, she felt like something was off and opened her eyes. She heard the clock striking midnight, and when she heard the last chime, she looked around and saw everything had stopped in place. Time itself had stopped,
She placed the glass on the coffee table and looked around, She noticed the clock itself had stopped.
"What is going on?"
"I can tell you."
Kate was surprised by the voice, she turned around and saw a round pulsating blue light that was floating in mid-air. She didn't feel scared by the pulsating light, she felt calm, and she had a that the light wouldn't hurt her.
The light glowed brighter, Kate covered her eyes from the light. When she opened them, the light was gone, and replace saw a woman there, It was the dead woman she saw when she thought she was hallucinating in the bookstore parking lot.
Expect the woman was more vibrant, more beautiful, more alive, to the point Kate realized the woman looked like her. It was as if she was looking into a mirror.
