Every relationship you have been in, the same thing always happened.
You have always been cheated on and that gave you major trust issues. Ever since your last relationship ended, you have no intention being in one again.
You thought that every man in this planet is all the same.
Not until you met your brother's bestfriend who treated you right and with so much respect.
Which you were surprised; No one has ever treated you that way.
Everytime your brother mentions his name, your heart skips a beat. Everytime he comes over to your house to play with your brother, you always find yourself staring at him with adoration.
💗 - New Years Eve
"Hey little demon," Your brother pulled your hair gently. You slapped his hand away and turned around, "Stop doing that! I already fixed my hair, stop messing it!" You complained.
Your brother just huffed and sat on the dinner table. "Mom, is it okay if Jay will be celebrating the new years here? I feel bad for him because recently his parents just passed and he's an only child making him all alone."
That grabbed your attention. You awaited you mother to reply.
She nodded. "Of course, Yejun. Jay is like my son too so he can stay here whenever he likes." Upon hearing your mom's reply, you quickly ran to your room and slammed your door shut with a smile on your face.
You grabbed your sketchbook and started scribbling. You drew you and your family at the dinner table, eating happily with Jay.
You took out the red envelope and filled it with candies; since you ran out of allowance money.
"Little demon!" Your brother shouted from downstairs, "Come down, we'll be having dinner soon." You put your mechanical pen down and ran downstairs with the red envelope for Jay.
You saw him on the living room, chattering with your brother. You don't have enough courage to approach and give him your gift yourself.
His sweater was laid on the chair at the kitchen, you looked around and slowly put the envelope inside the sweater pocket.
You sigh in relief and grabbed frozen grapes.
Jay and your brother made their way to the kitchen. Your Father and Mother were decorating the house.
"Oh, Mrs. Yu, I'll help you with the stickers." Jay offered. "No no dear, you sit down and relax, okay? We will do the decorating and cooking." Your mother shakes her head, but Jay insisted so.
After a few tries, he was successful. As they were done, Jay grabbed his sweater but a certain envelope fell on the ground. He scrunches his eyebrows and picked it up. You widened your eyes and turned around to avoid making eye contact with him since it has your name on it.
He chuckled lightly, "Thank you, Y/N."
Dinner time went great. Your parents gave you and your brother red envelopes filled with money inside. You glanced at Jay who was peacefully eating the frozen grapes which was supposed to be yours only.
You let him be.
Everyone should not eat my grapes but if it's Jay then he can finish it too.
"Jay," Your Father called. Jay raised his head up, he was shocked that he also has a envelope for him.
(aside from Y/N's)"No no Mr. Yu, you don't have to give me anything. Me getting to stay here for new years is already too much." He laughed. Your father put the envelope beside Jay's phone, "You deserve it." He smiles and continued to eat.
Jay was astonished and beyond thankful.
"T-thank you, Mr. Yu. So so much"
💗
"Y/N, go to sleep now, it's late." Your mother said, turning off the lights.
You were busy sketching.
It was you and Jay earlier. You closed your sketchbook and yawned, "I will mom."
"Goodnight dear."
"Goodnight!" You beamed. You tried sleeping but you couldn't.
You decided to go downstairs to drink hot chocolate.
You saw a figure outside, sitting, blankly staring at the distance.
It must be Jay..
You slowly approached him, as quiet as he can but he noticed you fast enough.
"Why are you still awake at this time, Y/N?" He questioned, crossing his arms.
"I should be asking the same thing too, Why?"
"I need to get things off my mind. It's nothing really" He replied with a sad tone.everything is not alright.
"You can tell me anything! You can rant to me, your secrets are safe with me."
Jay took a glimpse of you and sneered. "How can I trust a kid?""I'm not a kid! I'm already in College." You defended yourself.
"I'm okay, Y/N. Now go back to sleep."
You shake your head, "I'm staying here with you."
You covered your mouth in realization as he raised an eyebrow, "I-I h-have to get fresh air too.."
"Don't you have a balcony?"
"I-I actually p-prefer here more."Silence overtook between you two. You were busily drinking your hot chocolate as Jay was fiddling with his fingers.
"Thank you"
"Huh, for what?" You turned to him, "For the candies""O-oh" Your ears turned a hue of pink.
"I appreciate it so much." He smiled, patting your head."Y-you're welcome" You stammered and avoided eye contact.
"You wanna know what's going through my mind right now?"
You nodded slowly.
"I've been thinking about someone lately," He said which broke your heart into pieces. He eyed you, "Wanna know who it is?"
You nodded again, even if it's gonna hurt you.
You were in the verge of crying.
"I see, I want to know if she's willing to take the risk again, for me. Knowing that she had many failed relationships."
"And I'm looking at her right now."
That's where it hits you. He was talking about you.
"Happy New Year, Y/N." He stood up and was about to walk away but you quickly got ahold of his wrist,
"I'm willing to take the risk for you, Jay. You're my last risk."
