After an 11-month absence due to a lower back stress fracture, Indian cricket team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is ready to rejoin the team. He will be stepping out on the field for the T20I series against Ireland, marking his long-awaited comeback since September 2022.
He was even Implementing practice routines in preparation for the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup, events requiring intense 50-over spells. Bumrah is more excited and determined than ever. During his rehabilitation period, Bumrah practiced extensively as his focus remained on longer, one-day competitions rather than short-term T20 matches.
On the eve of the first T20I against Ireland, in the press conference, Bumrah said, "We were mindful of the fact there is no Test cricket till the ODI World Cup. In my rehab as well, I was not preparing for a T20 game. I was always preparing for the World Cup competition."
He also said that "I have been bowling 10, 12, and even 15 overs. So I have bowled more overs; that way, it becomes easier when less bowling is required. We kept in mind that we were preparing for a one-day competition and not a four-over competition. I have lots of overs under my belt. You have to keep working your way up. From where you left, you are a little down, and you keep working your way up."
