|Just a little grateful|
|Part 2|Seeing Tinn still in a trance, Gun snapped his fingers near Tinn's face, grabbing his attention bringing him out of his thoughts, he looks up to Gun through his thick rimmed glasses eyes a little wide, "What are you doing? Taste it, it's good I promise." Gun's eyes point to the shaved ice with a slight head tilt reassuring Tinn, as he had a conflicting look of whether or not to have the ice, all while Gun was assessing him with a gentle smile.
Tinn looks at the red sparkly coloured ice for a few more seconds and Gun's patience was hanging by a thread, lips pressed tight, trying not to break his smile, "If you don't try it now, I am about to change my mind." He threatened playfully hands in his pant pockets, thinking Tinn was about to yield.
Fine by me, I didn't order it anyway. Tinn thought unresponsive, looking Gun right in the eye with a blank stare, he didn't try to fight for the shaved ice. Gun gasped shocked to say the least, that someone was there, who just didn't care about his ma's shaved ice, his ma's! Which were the best in the world? How can that be!
Gun was now troubled, eyebrow's frowned in pain, trying again, "Have it, before it melts!" He was at the verge of pleading, seeing that Tinn reluctantly grabs the spoon panicked within, fearing that Gun might cry any second now if he doesn't give in, he didn't want any unwanted attention on himself because of this.
No way! I am suffering public humiliation tonight. Tinn yelled in his mind.
So he took a bite, the ice melt as soon as it touched his tongue, with such a sweet taste pleasantly spread across his mouth, his eyes widened beaming. This surprisingly tastes too good. All while Gun's eager eyes follow Tinn's every movement, seeing his reaction Gun sighed in relieved, he knew Tinn thought it was the most amazing shaved ice he had ever had, but before Gun could ask and Tinn could verbalise his experience, Gun's mom approached the two boys from the counter, "You know each other?" She asked curiously looking between both of them, with her forearm gently placed on Gun's shoulder, "Ma~, This is Tinn, the Vice principal's son, he's very smart.." Gun goes close to her ear whispering, "I was about to ask, if he could help me with my homework." He gives her a mischievous smile, getting a playful slap in return, "This little devil! Who's child are you!" She huffs, while Gun lets out a hearty laugh.
I knew it. He had other intentions.. Tinn concluded in his head, sinking in his chair, now looking back and forth between the mother and son duo as they continue to banter. Gim notices this and pushes Gun to the small open stage they had at the front end of their shop, "Enough, go already, the customers are waiting." Gun whines as he gets going, "I know Ma~, and you better finish all of this." But not before warning Tinn, Who are you to order me around!? He was annoyed but continued to take bites after bites nevertheless, with a frown and a very unnoticeable pout on his face.
He was halfway through the shaved ice, but a loud voice through the microphone, makes him look back, "Hello everyone! Welcome to Gim's mini concert, if you feel lonely tonight, then I have a song for you, would you like to sing with me." Gun said with a Charming yet shy smile, as he plays the guitar.
No stop! Tinn's eyes looked pained, his breathing had turned heavy feeling suffocated, gripping his chair with a hand numbing force, he hated listening to people sing, it brought back very bitter memories, he was ready to bolt out of this place but his feet were stuck to the ground, as Gun began singing, his voice melodious and soothing.
🎵"I was just someone"
"In this lonely city"
"I was just nobody" 🎵
The lyrics that Gun sang swept through his consciousness, oddly comforting him as he looked directly at Gun, eyes unwavering.
🎵"Until you came and took my heart"
"oh the time has stopped"🎵
It was as if Tinn could see the entire galaxy in Gun's eyes in that very moment, his eyes shone like all the brightest stars were in them. Tinn could not take his eyes off of Gun, even if he wanted to.
🎵"This city isn't lonely anymore"
"Because I have you today"🎵
As soon as the song was over, Tinn broke out of his daze and ran out of the shop with his bag over his shoulders, not before glancing at Gun for the last time that night, seeing the smile on Gun's face, had already fallen off.
"Tinn? Tinn?!" Tiw shook Tinn's shoulder with quite the force to bring him back to the present. His gaze was now focused on Tiw, "What?" He asked with a frown, "What were you so dazed about, for so long?" Tiw questioned eyebrow's creased, "Nothing in particular." he replies, Tiw eyes him suspiciously, but drops the topic knowing well enough he would not get an answer out of Tinn, no matter how many times he tries.
"So, what's your answer?" Tiw asked, Tinn frowns, "I just said, nothing in particular." Tiw rolls his eyes, "Not that, the one about you having feelings for someone or not?" Now it was Tinn's turn to roll his eyes, "I don't have time for such nonsense, Tiw." Tinn states, but Tiw knows better.
"You don't need any time for it." Tiw says with a knowing smile, which made Tinn confused not understanding the meaning behind those words, so he just shrugs and places the letter tile on the board, forming the word Eyes.
"Speaking of eyes, are going to opt for contacts now? The marks under your eyes are practically gone." Tiw asked staring at Tinn's face, the spot below his left eye, to the apple of his cheek which had very faint cut marks now nearly invisible, if not stared at his face for long enough to see them.
"I will think about it." Tinn replies annoyance written all over him, Tiw was adamant on making him remember all of the memories he had locked up in the back of his mind, in just this one sitting of playing the crossword puzzle.
"Let's stop, I need to go home now." Tinn said as he rose from his place, grabbing his bag over his shoulders, "But, it's not over yet-" Tinn shuts him with a glare and Tiw runs his fingers over his lips in a zipping manner, as he raises both his palms in surrender playfully seeing Tinn leave the club room.
He wasn't scared of Tinn in the slightest, he just didn't want Tinn to shut himself off from Tiw, like he does with everyone else, from what Tiw has observed of his dear friend so far. He chuckles to himself as he arranged the tiles back.
Tinn was walking down the empty hallway leisurely, it was way past the school hours, his mom's meeting would take a couple of more minutes to be over, he still had about 20 or more minutes in his hand, strolling through the school campus, he halts as his gaze land on the two students standing in the middle of the hallway, it was Gun and someone he doesn't recognise, racking his mind trying to recall if he had ever seen the other guy, but nothing came up.
What made Tinn have a death stare was the close proximity, both the boys were standing in, and the sweet smiles that were being exchanged between them, hands touching each other's arms and shoulders as their laughter echoed throughout the hallway.
The thing is Tinn wasn't liking what he was seeing, and he wonders why.
