29.Chapter Twenty-nine

Lily was furious. 

She would not have this.

Angrily walking into Noah Corp at half past seven on a Monday morning. She saw reporters being withheld from accessing the building and she thought it was hypocritical.  Lily budged into Noah's office ready to go off but there he was, pitiful looking, trembling hands and weary eyes. She instantly felt sorry for him, and she hated it, how does he manage to look so innocent?

Lan stood beside him; worry laced with concern upon his features.

"I DIDN'T DO IT!" He signed once he met her gaze," I COULD SWEAR ON MY HEAD, I NEVER TOOK YOU TO A DATE LAST NIGHT!"

" WHAT?"

Had he gone berserk?

Noah had literally walked into her office last week and instructed her to get ready for a date on Sunday night!

" YOU PRACTICALLY ATE WITH ME, ACROSS FROM ME!"

" IT WASN'T ME !"

" IT WAS YOU! "

Noah unwaveringly met her gaze," NO, IT WASN'T!"

" This bible stuff is making him crazy if not delusional," Lan said.

Lily threw her hands up in exasperation, " WHAT MIND GAME ARE YOU PLAYING?"

Noah shook his head at a fired-up Lily, her small hands clenched into angry fists and her face red with emotion," NO GAME! THESE ARE RUMOURS!"

" RUMOURS? ARE YOU CALLING YOURSELF A RUMOUR NOAH, WHO WAS THE MAN I WAS WITH THEN?"

Noah did not have to answer, the door opened interrupting them and Mr. Valentino walked in. He carried a paper in his hand," Mr. Ruiz what is this I am currently reading?"

Lily had to compose herself to sign.

Noah looked up to the celling, the answer he was about to give sounding ridiculously even to his own self, " IT WASN'T ME."

Valentino looked at him long and hard, " Incredulous!"

" Unbelievable, "

" IT ISN'T ME, PLEASE MR. VALENTINO I AM NOT LYING NOT EVER. I AM TRUSTING YOU NOT TO PULL OUT OF THE PROJECT, THE LEAST I OWE YOU IS MY HONESTY AND I AM. THESE ARE RUMOURS, THEY WILL DIE DOWN,"

Mr. Valentino chuckled," of course not, why would I pull out?" He smiled reassuringly," I would not worry too much about the rumours Mr. Ruiz rather about these two,"

As if on cue, two policemen walked in the office.

" Rules are rules, you violated your own work ethics, and no one is above the law,"

" ARE YOU MAKING ME SACK MYSELF FROM THE JOB, MR. VALENTINO?"

" No," Valentino answered, then smiled for a moment, looking at both Lily's and Lan's expectant gazes," I am."

" WHAT! "

" What?" 

Everyone had exclaimed.

" If you haven't checked Mr. Ruiz, I currently hold the highest number of shares in this company, surpassing yours by a large margin,"

Noah rose up, gawked, confusion in his senses," HOW?"

Valentino stared at Lan," you can ask your friend over there,"

Lan?

" You did this?  You manipulator!" Lily shrieked. 

Lan stared at the ground.

Noah stood frozen trying to understand exactly what was happening to him.

The two policemen stepped forward," Mr. Ruiz you are under arrest for alleged sexual harassment ..."

Noah's head was reeling.

Lily could not interpret further, he could tell from her already crying face and the approaching men who mercilessly grabbed him by the collar, he was under arrest.

But what for, what was his crime exactly?

Had his enemies finally gotten to him, he should have looked much closer, much closer- he thought as he stared at Lan.

Lily pulled at the men, tugged behind them and begged for them to let Noah go. 

It was a false accusation, they all knew it and as they forced him to a black vehicle with tinted windows that sped off before they barely shut the doors, Lily knew two things:

1. No one was now to be trusted.

2. Whoever was on a date with her on Sunday night, was not Noah Ruiz.
