Kit followed them up to the apartment after he grabbed all the bags from the trunk. Persephone was eternally grateful since they didn't have to walk up all those stairs with all those bags. They unlocked the door and stepped in, but he paused at the entryway with a look of consternation.
"I do apologize, however I require a direct invitation to enter your residence," he said sheepishly.
"Oh! You are welcome in my home, please enter," he stepped past the threshold, looking around with wide eyes at everything. He seemed to be in a small state of shock and awe at their apartment. "I'll show you where you can put the bags down," they quickly locked the door and the deadbolt. They rolled their eyes hearing the sounds of Fortnite coming from their room. They escorted him into the kitchen where he put all the bags on the island. Persephone started unpacking the bags putting away the ice cream and the sandwich meats away first. They were trying to explain what everything was as they were taking it out. "I also got you some more clothes. When you're more acclimated I'll take you in the store so you can pick out what you like. I just got you some more button-ups and a hoodie in the meantime," they said, passing that bag towards him. They thought the forest green hoodie would go good with his eyes. They quickly shook their head.
"Hoodie?" He asked in confusion, looking up at them from the bag. "Which of these is a 'hoodie', and what is its purpose?" He started pulling out clothes until he reached the green fabric. "Oh! This one has a cowl sewn on! Is this the 'hoodie'?" He held it up to himself curiously.
"Yes, it's meant to keep you warm when it snows. Even if you don't get cold, like I don't, it helps you appear more human," they said. "You put it on like this," they opened the bottom for him and gestured for him to duck down. He made a small sound of understanding and bent over, holding his arms out and trying to figure out how to slide into it. They fed his arms through the sleeves and helped him pop his head out. "The part where your head goes is snug, but it'll stretch out in time."
"Hey babe did you-" Stephen came out from the room staring at Kit, who gave him a friendly wave. He was wearing boxers and a Minecraft tee-shirt. "This the guy?"
"Yes. Did you switch the laundry?" They asked.
"No, sorry I forgot," he shrugged and walked back to the room.
"Bastard," they mumbled to themselves. "Stay here," they told Kit. They walked over to the laundry closest and switched the laundry to the dryer. Walking back to the kitchen they pulled out the stuff for s'mores. "Ready to make the most delicious thing you've had so far?" They tried to shake off their anger towards Stephen. They hated that this is what their relationship turned into. He used to be so caring and doting, and he actually cared when they were intimate. Ever since he moved in here, all of that had stopped immediately and he started putting no effort into their relationship. In this case, living together was a mistake and they knew better about putting their foot down when it came to moving in. Kit frowned.
"I do believe it's not my place to comment, but if I were the man awaiting you at home, I'd never dream of greeting you so callously," he said with a shake of his head. He turned to face them. "Is this the ingredients for the sammores?" He asked excitedly, bouncing on his feet.
"Yes," they grabbed the skewers from one of the drawers and filled the bag back up and went to the living room placing it on the coffee table. They had offhandedly ordered a small fire pit and really only used it when guests came over, but it was food safe. They poured some rubbing alcohol in it, snapped their fingers next to it and smiled as the small plume of fire began flickering. Kit applauded them with a wide grin, and Persephone stared at his fangs for a moment. They were probably about a half an inch long, coming down to narrowed, tapered points that were nearly translucent at the ends. They looked wickedly sharp, but Persephone guessed they'd have to be to puncture skin and muscle to get to the arteries. They should probably be afraid, but Kit seemed harmless, more enamored by the flames than tempted by either of the humans in the house.
