It was the worst few days of Persephone's life. They trained until they were all exhausted but at least proficient. Persephone worked around the clock to make sure the coven had enough spells to throw in cause they couldn't cast anymore. And everyone had the worst kinds of pepper spray and their high voltage tasers on them. The worst part was that Vic wouldn't stop calling even though Persehpone kept sending her to voicemail. They finally broke down one day and answered again.
"What Vic?" They tried their best to sound angry.
"Hey... um, how are you? Are you doing okay?" She asked.
"Please stop calling me. If you have any information about the vampires then I don't want to hear it Vic. You hurt and betrayed me," they said sternly.
"I know, I know and I know I was the one who broke up with you, but I don't want that anymore."
"No. You don't get to do that. What do you know about the vampires."
"Nothing, we can't find shit. It's too the point we think they might've even left."
"How can I trust that you're even telling me the truth?"
"Because if the hunters knew about you, you would've been dead a week ago," she said flatly. That was a decently compelling reason.
"Fine. But I told you I'm safe where I live and I haven't been back to open my shop," they said with a twist of sadness.
"I know and I'm sorry. I just wanted to give you an update," she said.
"Vic, unless you're willing to renounce your hunter status, please do not call me," they said sternly.
"But-"
"No compromises. Until you're no longer a hunter I can't trust that you won't turn on me," they said.
"I know. I'll get you to trust me, Persephone," she said before hanging up the phone. Persephone just plopped back on the couch and screamed into one of the pillows. They were grateful that Kit wasn't here to see or hear that. He had also been spending plenty of time with his friends, which Persephone was happy about. The rest of the coven was already at the cabin and they were waiting for them to make the call that they were 'attacked'. Tara was supposed to find the rest of the coven and call the police. Then they would find Daniella and Victoire alone and they would ambush the hunters. The worst part was the waiting. Tara sent the signal text. It was time to go.
They got their knives and their favorite cardigan. Getting everything loaded in the car they started driving. Kit was going with his friends and they would meet up with him there. They were anxiously listening to the police scanner and finally the call came in. It was an all available units of a suspicious animal attack after the first officer arrived. It took about an hour to drive out and rendezvous with everyone else. Persephone was the last one to show up and they were going over the map. Luckily they were the only ones who needed a ride since everyone else had super speed. The night was cold and the air was sharp, the moon was full and Persephone felt powerful with her light shining down on them.
"We'll stay here until we're ambushed and I can give Anton the signal," Daniella was talking. "Oh good Persephone, you're here. Ready?" She looked at them. Persephone nodded. "Good, we just need to make a scent trail from the cabin," she looked to Victoire. They looked over at Kit.
"You okay?" They walked over to him. He looked nervous, but he took a deep breath and nodded.
"I shall be right beside you the whole fight. We will both make it through this," Persephone wasn't sure if he was trying to reassure them or himself.
