"Giyuu?" Shinobu asked the day before their wedding.
"Yes?"
"I've been thinking, and...I need you to promise me something, before we get married," she spoke, a serious expression on her face.
"What is it?"
"Beat the mark."
"Will do." he agreed before kissing her forehead.
...
"I declare you husband and wife," the priest announced.
Shinobu and Giyuu stood at the altar, finally married, in front of the crowd. They were wearing traditional attire, smiling genuinely, looking forward to their new life. They had decided to look forward and forget the past, as had the rest of the Pillars. Sanemi was finally warming up to them and the others, and so was Obanai.
It had been three weeks since Mitsuri and Obanai's wedding. The couple could be seen somewhere among the rows of chairs.
Giyuu put his arm around Shinobu's waist, walking with her towards the double doors to the orchard, as the guests found their way out.
Now that they were in the garden, Giyuu offered his hand to Shinobu, which she took gladly, as he led her to the centre of the orchard, to a slow dance. Other couples followed soon after, including Tanjiro and Kanao, but Shinobu was too distracted to notice.
"So, where are we going after this?" Shinobu asked.
"Home, of course..." Giyuu replied confused.
"I know, silly! But which 'home'? Mine, or yours?"
After a second of thought, Giyuu answered:
"Doesn't matter, so long as I'm with you."
She stopped dancing for a second to kiss him.
...
Having decided to replicate the western tradition that Mitsuri had introduced at her own wedding, Shinobu threw the bouquet at the crowd of maidens, which, to her surprise, was caught by Kanao.
"Kanao?" Shinobu asked softly, though it was obvious she demanded an explanation.
Kanao stood there for a second, before grabbing Tanjiro and kissing him in front of her sister. Kanao let go, while Tanjiro turned tomato red and stared apologetically at Shinobu.
"Shinobu-sama..." he whispered, avoiding her gaze.
Shinobu smiled at him.
"'Shinobu' is fine. You're going to be my brother in law, after all..."
Tanjiro smiled widely at her, before she bid the crowd goodbye, dragging Giyuu with her.
...
10 years later...
Shinobu woke up, the sunlight penetrating the window and falling upon her, making her shine. She looked to her right to see her husband, though he wasn't there. She pulled herself up, making her way towards the garden.
Giyuu was, indeed, there, playing with their three children. He turned around and smiled at her, inviting her over. She walked over to where he was standing and hugged him from behind.
"Morning,"
"Morning."
"I need to check on the patients, I'll be back soon," Shinobu whispered.
Giyuu nodded.
He kneeled down to his son's level, ruffling his hair.
"Where's mommy?"
"Mommy has work to do. You get to stay here with me,"
"Can we meet with Yuka and Haru?"
"...I don't know. We'll have to ask Tanjiro."
"Pweeeease daddy!"
"...Fine."
"Yay!"
The boy threw his hands up in the air and started running after his siblings.
"Sabito! We still have to wait for your mother!" Giyuu called out to his son, who didn't respond. He sighed, before he felt a hand on his shoulder, prompting him to turn his head.
"He's still a child, Giyuu," Shinobu smiled softly.
"I know," he smiled back.
...
A full moon was now shining in the horizon, as Giyuu and Shinobu's children continued playing with Tanjiro and Kanao's, as well as Tengen's and Mitsuri and Obanai's, who had all joined in.
The bright future they had hoped for.
"Children! We need to go back home!" Shinobu called out.
"Children!" she repeated, now angry.
Giyuu put her hand in his.
"Let them play a little longer. Come on,"
"Fine..." she said, tired.
Giyuu led her into the nearby forest, eventually releasing her hand.
"Come on," he indicated the trees, "for old times' sake." Shinobu smiled confidently, running ahead of him, as he still struggled to catch up.
"Come on, Giyuu! At least try!" She laughed.
"I am trying!" he yelled back.
Shinobu reached the last tree and jumped down to the edge of the cliff, where she stood majestically. Giyuu eventually joined her, panting.
"We're severely out of practise," he stated.
"True."
They sat down at the edge, staring at the moonlit landscape before them.
"The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?" Giyuu asked.
"It really is," Shinobu answered, before kissing him.
