Chapter Seven

Hope Mikaelson sat on her bed, mindlessly scrolling through TikTok, debating whether or not she should text Ava. After all, the girl had given her phone number, but not received Hope's in the process. It wasn't that she didn't want to talk to the girl. She actually did. She was lonely since Noelle refused to answer any of her texts. But she didn't exactly know what to say. The eldest Mikaelson heir hadn't had to go through the "making friends" stage in a while.

A soft knock on the door snapped her out of her teenage girl drama. She knew from the scent of the cologne that the knock came from her father. "Come in?"

Klaus looked down, sadness clear in his eyes. He wasn't sad at his siblings leaving, per se, he was down more so than expected because he didn't know how his eldest would handle the departure of her mother. "Your mother thinks that it is time to do the spell."

Hope sat her phone down on the bed and met her father's gaze with shock. She wasn't aware that they were deciding to leave this soon. Especially since they had just gotten done with brunch just about two hours ago. As she could feel her magic start to push itself upwards, she tried to follow her father's advice. Taking a deep breath, her magic settled. "Okay," She replied.

Waiting on his daughter, he turned and knocked on Henrik's door. The boy opened the door, his dark brown curls were wildly out of place and his forehead was covered in sweat. The hybrid was going to ask his son what he was doing, but he shook off the need. Henrik was fifteen now and whatever he was doing, he was sure he didn't want to know.

"This isn't- What's up, dad?"

Klaus shook his head and raised his hand. "I would ask if your sister was in there with you, but now I hope she is not. Where is Astrid?"

"In the garden," Henrik started. "I'll just text her. Is there something wrong?"

"Nothing wrong, no. I just need you two to help out with a spell for Hope's mother." The hybrid started, trying to stop his eyes from darting around Henrik's room. If he kept looking, he was going to see something he was positive he didn't want to see. "Can you both meet me in your mother's office?"

"Of course," Henrik replied, closing the door and running his hand through his head. He looked down at the spell's remains. His room had candles covering every inch and his blood was staining his sheets. He was able to cloak the smell of blood when he heard his father, but he didn't have time to cover the entire room. But now it seemed he had too.

Picking up his phone, he sent a text to Astrid and let her know to meet him in his mom's office. After downing a bottle of ice-cold water, Henrik rearranged his hair to make it look less messy. While his father may not have mentioned his outward appearance, if his mother was back from taking Elias to the market, she definitely would. Grabbing his phone at hearing a ding, he stuffed it in his pocket, not even looking at who texted him.

When he got downstairs, he realized that Astrid and Hope both were already there. Hope was sitting on the far left of the peace sofa in the living room while Astrid was sitting on the far left. Sliding past Astrid, he sat in the middle of his sisters. His entire family, even the ones that he had just met, were standing around the room.

"What are you guys talking about?" Henrik asked, hearing small mummers about a spell back and forth from his father to one of his aunts. He'd be lying if he said he remembered her name.

Niklaus spoke up first. "My siblings are leaving today, but we all are in agreement that we want the three of you to cast a protection spell of a sort on Hayley to ensure her survival."

Astrid looked around the room, her eyes wandering as her brain did the same. They could try the protection spell in grandma Esther's grimoire. She quickly shrugged that one off realizing that it would require the sacrifice of a human. Her father wouldn't ask them to do that kind of magic.
