"Oh my god, Ashton!" Michael yelled as Ashton knocked over his guitar stand with his book bag. "Balls."

Ashton turned around and caught it just before it hit the ground. "Oh my gosh, I'm really sorry." He apologised, and meant it. Even though that is only one of Michaels million guitars. They all look the same, but some just have different colours, this one was the one he brought most frequently to school. It was a really soft and light aqua or turquoise colour, but still very nice.

"Its fine you dickhead, nice reflexes." He chuckled and punched Ashton on the shoulder, which actually hurt a bit but he would look like a wimp if he rubbed it or said 'ow' so he didn't react. He was just overly happy that Michael was talking to him. "So anyways, how is your song going?"

Ashton scrunched up his nose at the mention. "Not very good, I'm stuck."

"On what."

"Everything." Ashton breathed out.

"Well I can help? I don't know shit about drums but maybe you can play any ideas and I will give you feedback." Michael pushed himself up onto one of the school tables in front of the drum kit.

"I was thinking of doing a slower beat to put a more meaningful feel to it. Like this." He played one of his ideas in which Michael expressed his opinion with a fake snore.

"Boring. Make it more upbeat."

"Yeah I'll try to write up something at home." He thought about how difficult it will be to write a whole new little verse at home without any drums, but he will make it work. "Hey Michael, can I ask you a weird question?" Ashton tugged at the frayed little hole in the pocket of his Green Day hoodie.

"Shoot."

"Okay so I met these kids on the bus and I was wondering... if well...what are they like?" He felt weird bringing this up with Michael. "Calum and Luke?"

Michael scrunched up his nose with a scowl at the mention. "Calum used to be my best friend in primary school, until he ditched me when we hit Year 7, he started thinking he was all top shit and everything. To be honest, around here he is. Every time you see him he will be chatting up some chick or hanging out with that friend of his..."

"Luke." Ashton answered for him, loving the way his name rolled off the tongue easily in one syllable.

"Yeah, I hate him. He's like, so nice." Michael said in a disgusted voice. Ashton raised his eyebrows at the blue haired boy. "You know what I mean, like, too nice. Suspiciously nice. Everyone loves him and it annoys the fuck out of me. He came out of the closet last year and everyone applauded him for his 'bravery' and 'honesty'."

"Why does he call everyone cute as well, it's uncomfortable. I hate it." Ashton lied, because he secretly kind of loved the way he is so straight forward and out there. It's the kind of person Ashton would like to be if he had the courage.

"What do you mean? Did he call you cute?!" Michael gasped. Ashton 'shhh'ed him because people looked towards them. Michael gripped onto the edge of the table while he leant into Ash to talk quieter. "Luke Hemmings has the hots for you, holy fuck." He whisper-shouted.

Ashton cheeks started burning up so much that he felt like he was on fire. "I thought he said that to everyone."

"Nope, he barely ever talks to anyone too far out of his circle."

"Oh okay well, it doesn't matter, he's not my type... or gender. I'm gonna start to rewrite the first verse of my song." In which Michael responded with a sheepish nod, obviously wanting to talk further about it.
