Ashton likes to think the thing he hates the most about his glasses is the fact that they always fog up in the winter, but honestly he just hates them in general. The way they always slide down to the end of his nose making him look like some posh old lady with her little specticles on the tip of her nose, because lets face it, they are pretty much always bitches. The fact that he looked like freaking Harry Pottter, except much less awesome. And even that he simply disliked the fact that they made everything clear, it was so much to handle for his eyes in the first week that they made him extremely dizzy an light-headed to the point when he passed out.

It’s been about two weeks since he last attended school, He had been using his glasses as an excuse to not be forced into 6 hours of hell, but he was starting to feel like he was taking school for granted. He started thinking about that girl that got shot in the head just because she wanted the right to an education, it made the curly haired boy sad, and also made him feel really ungrateful, like he was throwing away something people might be wishing for everyday.

Ashton realised that he sometimes put way to much thought into things, but he can’t really help it.

So he made a promise to himself that he would try his hardest to do well in school and be as grateful as he possibly could. He told himself that tomorrow was the day he would go to school

When Ashton's alarm went off the next morning, he just lay in bed for at least 10 minutes staring at the ceiling before getting up and having a shower. When he put on his glasses and looking in the mirror, he noticed his hair was a bit crazier and curlier than usually so he just ran a bit of water through it to somewhat tame it. After he was all ready he walked out into the kitchen and greeted his mum with a hug from behind, and a kiss on her cheek. He knew how much she loved it when he showed affection towards her, and he felt like making her smile.

"Morning mum." Ashton sing-songed into her shoulder, before setting his school bag on the kitchen counter.

"Good morning Ash, you're going to school today by the looks!" She exclaims in which Ashton responded with a nod as he grabbed an apple, and a packet of chips and started stuffing them into his backpack. "What would you like for breakfast, honey?"

He looked at the clock worriedly, making sure he could still catch the bus in time. Ashton shook his head swiftly. "I don't think I have enough time. Besides, breakfast is for the weak."

She laughed loudly. "Your such a dag."

Ashton felt like letting her know what a dag actually is, but he had no time. He sprinted outside and headed towards the bus stop, and for the first time in a very long time, he actually saw his neighbourhood. He never noticed how beautiful Mrs. Harrison's garden had grown, or the fact that the creepy abandoned house on the corner, was now rebuilt and looking stunning. On his way past, Mr. Levi was waiting out the front of his house waiting for the mail and as usual said good morning to Ashton. Since when had he shaved off his mile-long beard?

He realised that it may not have been his eyesight that kept him from noticing all these things, because honestly, he never really payed much attention.

When he got to the bus stop and sat in his regular seat, the guy who usually sat next to him. Looked up at him and his eyes widened, although the unknown person didn’t say anything, Ashton knew it was because of his glasses. Ashton was pretty sure he had the same reaction when he actually saw the guys face clearly for the first time. He looked kind of Asian or kiwi or something, which is odd because Ashton had heard him on the phone before and he didn't talk like an Asian. Ashton felt like punching himself in the face for being so stereotypical and racist. But you know what he means, like a vibe? He knows he is being so distasteful at the moment but he doesnt really know how to explain it. He just thought that he would know.
