Four had been suspended.
Again.
His parents has attempted to get him a therapist, or a counselor, but failed, drastically, multiple times.
Four's father pulled up in his Jeep to get him.
"Whaddya do this time?" His father questioned.
"Screeched someone." Four muttered.
"Who?"
"Just a variable!"
"WHO." His dad said, more pushed.
"Light blue plus sign." He admitted.
"Good math, four. You need to control yourself."
"Mm-hmm." Four stared at his feet.
"Your mother's making dinner."
"What's for dinner?" Four wondered aloud.
"Leftovers." Four's dad answered.
Of course.

(Later, at dinner)
"Four, what's wrong? You haven't touched your hamburger helper." His mom, Dollar sign, asked.
"He got suspended." His father said, obviously disappointed.
"How..." His mom sighed.
Four looked down at the pile of yesterday's lunch on his plate.
"Screechy."
His mother shook her head. "Did you help them up?"
Four nodded. "Took 'er to the nurse's office."
Four got up, bussed the table, and headed upstairs.
———
-Fours perspective-
I sat in my room, pissed off, as I had the right to be!
I got bored really quickly. I would've grabbed my phone, but I'm not allowed to have it in my room, and I was already in enough trouble.
"Ziggy," I asked my voice activated speaker.
What variable goes best with four?"
"According to my calculations, there is no variable that coincides with the number four, so it is a plain and boring constant."
I sighed. Seriously?

X's perspective

I squinted.
Nope. The X on my algebra work does not change when I look at it.
I checked my phone.
8:15
Shoot, bedtime.
"X! Bedtime!" My dad, seven yelled.
"I know!" I yelled back, and closed my Chromebook.
I stumbled into bed and turned the radio on. At least the break was tomorrow. We were heading to a house on lake Winnepesaukee.

NEXT DAY

Four's house
No perspective

Four woke up cold with all the covers off his bed.
He grabbed his suitcase and headphones and walked out.
On the way to the garage, he nabbed his headphones and his phone.
He hopped in the backseat and his parents claimed the driver and passenger seats.

X's house
No perspective

"Hey X..." Seven nudged X. "What...?" They mumbled, half asleep. "I let you sleep in fifteen minutes, we gotta get up and going."
"Why?"
"I thought it would be nice."
X sighed and stretched."I'm pretty much packed. I just need to wash up, and we can head out."

10 MINUTES LATER

X gripped their duffel bag and hopped into the passenger side seat and Seven got into the driver's.
