Chapter 2
-Ls POV-
Slowly opening my eyes, I stretch to wake myself up. Doing so I touched something solid that didn't feel like my bed, confused I finally open my eyes to see Light laid next to me still sleeping. I freeze for a second while i quickly remember yesterday. I needed to start working so I take my alarm clock, set an alarm for a minute from now and wait.
-Lights POV-
My body jolts forward to the distressing sound of an alarm, I can feel my heart beating faster than it should. Annoyed, I rub my eyes and look to my left. Stood there with an alarm clock in his hand was Ryuzaki, he starts walking away. Feeling the adrenaline pump through me, I get out of bed and push L into his wall.
He yanked the chain that tied us together sending me flying forwards into his wall too. Tired and unimpressed, I sit myself up and give Ryuzaki a death stare. L doesn't seem too phased by this and just stands up, tugging on the chain as if to tell me to hurry up. "I'm still in pyjamas," I realise. L wanders over to my side of the bed and hands me my trousers from yesterday. Still not fully awake yet, I put them on but don't get enough time to change t-shirts as L is already walking out of the room and down the corridor. I hate this.
-3rd person-
Everyone is working by the time they get downstairs. Ryuzaki is unimpressed by this and glares at Light clearly angry. Although everyone was warned about Light and L being chained together most of them still wanted to know more about how things were going to work out. "WOAH! You're actually chained together!" Exclaims Matsuda disturbing the work flow. Now everyone is looking their way.
Eventually the task force become accustomed to the experiment and are getting on with their work, paying little attention to Light and L. For the most part the day went pretty normally all things considered, there was no new evidence, no new killings. This is a bad thing for light and he's aware of this. Luckily for him, Misa burst through the doors with enough energy to resurrect the dead. Misa cheerily makes her way over to Light; a good thing because Light really needs to speak with her.
-Misa POV-
I was so excited to see everyone, especially Light! "As its been a few days since I've stopped by I have a gift!" I look over at the door I just came through and coughed loudly. As I do so Watari comes in holding a massive box and I can't contain my excitement so I rush over to the box and reveal a 24 inch cake with sparkles, adorned with colourful writing. Knowing L would be the most excited about this, I thank Watari and take the cake over to him. His eyes light up for the first time in about 48 hours. I can tell he is stressed about the case.
-Ls POV-
"I appreciate this Misa, thank you" I'm glad she is here and it is , of course, generous of her to bring cake. I stare as she greets light with a tight hug, to which he responds with a smile. Why is he so melancholic around me? It's like he's a different person with her. I can't help but resent Misa for this even though I'm aware its not her fault. After all, they are dating.
Turning my focus away from Light and Misa, I start eating my cake and reviewing camera footage. Hearing everyone laughing and enjoying having Misa around upsets me. Due to my above average intelligence,I've found I've never really needed friends, but after becoming closer to Light, I have found myself becoming more attached to people and feeling generally more compassion for others.
-Lights POV-
I have to talk to Misa about the death note but I cannot be obvious about it. Luckily for me, Ryuzaki's mind seems to be elsewhere so he is not paying as much attention to me at all; I use this to my advantage. "Misa, did you notice there have been no deaths since I've been locked with Ryuzaki. Makes me look very suspicious don't you think?" She seemed to get my point but I'm afraid I was being slightly too obvious. "I haven't noticed.." she confesses, holding up 1 finger. This means we should wait 1 day before killing anyone. I nod my head in agreement and as quick as she entered, she was gone.
Observing my surroundings, I notice L hasn't moved at all and he has barely eaten his cake. Something was up. Maybe he is on to me; I should've been more subtle with the way I talked to Misa. "Fuck" I whisper a little too loudly, letting my head fall forwards. It is nearing the end of the day and I'm getting fed up with being attached to Ryuzaki.
-3rd person-
L is more mindful of the time this evening and doesn't make Light stay up any longer than necessary. "It's 12:45am we should sleep now," Ryuzaki suggests before getting up and walking over to the lift. Light doesn't comply, instead getting up and heading over to the stairs, descending to the living room. Confused, L turns around and follows him down there. It's dark but Light doesn't seem to have a problem knowing where to go, causing Ryuzaki to feel confident in following him.
Light finds the remote and sits down on the only sofa in the room. L stands next to the arm of the sofa slightly leaning on it, Lights notices this and pulls hard on the chains to indicate he wants L to sit next to him. They start flipping through channels when they come across something they agree on watching.
"You seemed stressed earlier," L mentions, trying to ease the tension. "I could say the same about you," Light snaps back, was clearly irritated but not knowing how to tell him. Ryuzaki picks up on this and moves himself closer to Light, not taking his eyes off of the TV. Light doesn't either but he sighs, putting his arms around Ryuzaki to pull him onto his chest.
