"Are you alright?" I asked as I teetered down the steps to Larissa.
She sighed deeply and rubbed her forehead.
"Come on, let's head back and clean up before this stuff stains our skin" and I led her away.

We walked back to the school together. When we entered the main hall I said goodbye to her, ready to head to the communal showers.
"Where are you going?" she asked, confused.
"My shower is broken, so I have to use the communal ones until it's fixed" I replied.
"Oh I see. You can use mine if you want?" she offered.
"No it's OK, I don't want to impose".
"Don't be silly, I insist. Besides everyone will be in there now fighting for cubicle" she said with a little laugh.
She had a point but I wasn't sure if this was a good idea. To be in her quarters again would stir up a lot of old feelings, ones that I wasn't sure I could handle.
"Um..."
"I won't pounce on you I promise" she joked.
I looked over at the corridor leading to the showers then back at her.
"OK then. Thank you Larissa".

As we walked to her office I was starting to get a bit nervous so I started up a conversation.
"Do you really think Morticia is behind this?" I asked.
"I was so sure of it but now I don't know".
"What makes you think it was her?"
"She's angry at me for-" she hesitated, "for letting her down".
"For what it's worth I don't think it was her. I noticed something was off between you two tonight so I kept an eye on you both and she was there the whole night".
"You kept an eye on us?"
"Yeah. Just to make sure you were OK. We might not be together Larissa but I do still care about you, I always will".
She looked at me bewildered, but it was the truth.

When we entered her living quarters I did feel that familiar rush of excitement, especially when I saw her bed. I was taken back to when I lost my virginity to her, the first time I tasted her, our last night together in front of the fireplace and all of the other pleasurable times we had here.
She went straight to the bathroom and turned on the shower.
"You first" she said, "you can use one of my robes while I find some suitable clothes for you. Towels are over there and shower gels and sponges are there".
"I remember" I said, I tried to be reassuring but it came out quite flirtatious causing Larissa to giggle.

After scrubbing my skin within an inch of its life and thoroughly washing my hair I stepped out of the shower, dried myself off and put on one of Larissa's fluffy white robes. It was huge on me and trailed along the floor as I walked.
"Your turn" I said to Larissa, who was sitting on the edge of the bed patiently waiting. Even though my suit was ruined she had folded it up neatly for me and placed it on the bed, next to a blue t-shirt and a pair of shorts (also neatly folded).
"It feels so strange being back here" I said lightly.
"I hope it's not too strange for you".
"No it's not" I said looking around the space, "we had a lot of fun here".
She tittered and even though she was still covered in paint I could tell she was blushing.
"We had some fun in your room too" she said fondly.
"We did. I still laugh about that photo I sent to you during your meeting. Such terrible timing!" We both laughed but I noticed she licked her lips too. As the laughter settled, a silence fell.
"You looked lovely tonight by the way" she said softly.
"So did you. You still do, even covered in paint".
"You're just saying that to make me feel better after this disastrous night" she said dismissively, pulling her stilettos off.
"Would I ever lie to you Riss?"
She looked up and her expression softened.
"When you walked into the hall tonight you turned so many heads and didn't even realise it. Enid said you looked stunning too" I said.
"And what about you? Did I turn your head?" she said as she stood up.
"You did more than that, you took my breath away".
"What are you doing?!" I thought, but I seemed to have no control of the words coming out of my mouth.
She looked down at the floor then muttered, "I'm so sorry Mya".
"What for?"
"Everything. For intimidating you, trying to make you jealous, for the awful things I've said...for letting you go".
She stepped closer and cupped my face, her eyes brimming with tears.
"I never should have ended things with us. I thought I was doing the right thing but the truth is... it was the worst decision I ever made. I miss you so much and it breaks my heart to think you're with someone else now. I pushed you away when all I ever wanted to do was hold you close".
I couldn't believe what she was saying, this changed everything.
"Larissa, I never knew you felt this way. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I couldn't, it was too late. Instead I just drowned my sorrows in wine and took my frustrations out on Morticia. Now I've lost her too. I don't deserve-"
I cut her off with a question I just had to know the answer to, "Larissa do you love me?"
I could see the answer in her eyes. She was desperate to tell me. But I needed to hear her say it.
"I..."
"Say it! Please!" I thought.
"I should go shower" and she hurried off to the bathroom, slamming the door shut.
