Mya's POV:

"I'm so sorry Mya. I'll make it up to you I promise" Jasmine said with a croaky voice.
"You better had" I replied cheekily.
The annual Rave'N was coming up so I asked Jasmine to be my date, she agreed but cancelled the night before because she was sick. I was disappointed as it was my first time at the Rave'N but Jasmine sounded terrible on the phone so I told her to rest up. Everyone else had dates by now so I decided to just go by myself. I'd already bought my outfit so I wasn't going to let it go to waste!

On the night I walked into the hall in my tailored white suit and matching white tie. The first person I spotted in the crowd was Wednesday, she stood out amongst the sea of white because she was wearing her signature colour: black.
"Hey!" I said cheerily as I approached her and Enid.
"Hi Mya! Are you here all by yourself?" Enid asked, looking behind me for my date.
"Yeah, Jasmine's sick but I wanted to come and see what all the fuss was about" I said looking around the hall.
"Oh my gosh the Rave'N is THE best part of the school year! The music, the dancing, the lights, the outfits! You might even see a certain someone dance" she said with a sneaky nod at Wednesday.
"That was one time Enid" Wednesday growled.
"Would it hurt you to let your hair down every now and then?" Enid argued.
"Unfortunately not" Wednesday said bluntly. Enid huffed and rolled her eyes.
"Oh look it's Principal Weems! Wow she looks stunning!" Enid said surprised. I turned around and saw Larissa looking the most glamorous I'd ever seen her. She was wearing a long silver sequinned gown with a split that went up to her knee. Her hair was pinned up but in a looser style with a few stray curls purposely dangling. Her eyes shimmered with subtle silver eye makeup and, of course, her signature red lip for a pop of colour. Everyone turned to look at her in awe, she even earned a few wolf whistles but seemed oblivious to them.
I stood there open-mouthed at this glorious sight, "wow" I breathed then felt someone hit me across the back of my head.
"Ow! What the hell?!" I cried.
"Put your tongue back in Mya" Wednesday said and Enid giggled.
Then my heart sank as a familiar figure strutted in behind Larissa, dressed in a long black lace dress with dark makeup and her hair in an updo. Morticia. But to my surprise she walked straight past Larissa, not acknowledging her in the slightest. Larissa took notice as Morticia headed towards a group of teachers, but she looked a little embarrassed and didn't attempt to speak to her.
"What the hell is going on with those two?" I thought.

As the night went on I kept an eye on Larissa and Morticia, observing their (lack of) interactions. I still had a great time partying with my friends and I actually did get to see Wednesday dance!
Later on I went over to the punch bowl for another drink and when I turned around Larissa was standing there.
"Shi-! You seem to have a habit of sneaking up on me Principal Weems" I joked.
"Sorry I didn't mean to startle you" she said sheepishly.
"That's alright. Would you like a drink?"
"No thank you. I came to talk to you. I just wanted to say...I'm sorry for the other night at the restaurant".
"That's OK. I'm sorry too, it's just been...difficult".
She hung her head then looked over at Morticia chatting with the other teachers.
"I seem to be hurting a lot of people lately" she said sullenly.
"Is everything alright between you two?"
"Not really, but it was always going to be messy between us. I don't think it's meant to be".
"I'm sorry to hear that. Truly".
"How are things with you and Jasmine?" she asked.
"Good actually. She's ill so she couldn't come tonight".
"What a shame" she said, trying (and failing) to hide her glee.
There was an awkward pause as I swirled my drink around my cup. I broke the silence with something heartfelt, "I do hope you find someone who makes you happy Larissa, someone who'll love you forever with all of their heart".
Small tears began to form in the corners of her eyes but she quickly brushed them away.
"Thank you Mya".
I smiled then went back to my friends with one last glance over my shoulder at her, our eyes meeting as she did the same.

A while later I was talking to Divina and Bianca when I felt something on my arm. I looked down and noticed red spots on my sleeve, I looked up and something was dripping on my face. Then the drips got heavier...and heavier...and heavier until the sprinklers burst on and showered us all in a bright red liquid. It was like something from a horror film! Everyone was screaming and scrambling to get out of the hall while the teachers tried to calm the students and usher them out safely.
"What the fuck is this?!" I shouted.
"It's paint!" Wednesday shouted back above the screams, she was the only one who seemed to be enjoying this chaos.
"It's happened before! But we need to go now! I swear if this is Lucas and his idiot friends again..." Bianca cursed and we ran for the door. But just as I went to leave I remembered something, or rather someone. I spotted Larissa storming out of the back of the hall and I was torn between which direction to go in. Follow my friends or follow Larissa.
"Wednesday! Tell the others I'm OK. I'll see them later or tomorrow or whatever".
"Where are you going?" she asked.
"I...I need to see if Larissa's OK" I said quietly. She looked behind me as the back door slammed.
"Just go" and she shooed me away.

I bolted out of the back door to see Larissa arguing with Morticia, the pair of them covered from head to toe in red paint.
"I know it was you! Who else would do this?!" Larissa yelled.
"Why don't you ask your precious girlfriend?!" Morticia spat, pointing at me. The pair of them turned to see me standing on the steps of the fire exit.
"I had nothing to do with this! I swear!" I said, holding my hands up.
Morticia scoffed.
"I believe her" Larissa said firmly.
"Of course you would. You'd believe anything she says!" Morticia shouted.
"Because I trust her and I know she wouldn't do something like this out of spite or jealousy! Unlike you..."
Morticia turned to me and lowered her voice, "you...you have ruined everything!" and she stormed off into the night.
