I clicked the send button Over and over, but there was no service anywhere in the house. Huh, how strange.. I hooked my phone into my boom box, turned on 'Blow me (one last kiss)' by P!nk and turned it all the way up. At first it hurt my ears, but then the loudness took the nervousness away. I decided to clean. 4 floors 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Plus the kitchen and the living room.

In about 5 hours I was done. I laid down exhausted, and fell asleep. I woke up to screaming.

What the hell? I looked out my window, and little Cara was running through the woods in her hospital dress with no shoes on. Her parents ran after her. Then she looked up, up at my window. Her eyes met mine and I quickly drew the curtains. That little girl scared me. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder, I screamed and then I turned and it was Michael. I hugged him, so happy that he was here. "Baby, did you hear?" Michael said.

"Hear what?" I said.

"David," he said hesitantly.

"David, David what, Michael? Spit it out!" I yelled.

"David's dead." Even though I haven't told you much about David, me and him were best friends until Cara came around. Just because we haven't spoke in 7 years doesn't mean I don't love him. He was 18 and had no life except taking care of his grandmother. Who would've killed him? Tears filled up in my eyes and Michael took me in his arms and rocked me back and fourth. God I love him.

When I was done crying I asked, "Who killed him?"

"Maya.."

"No! Who was it?!"

"It was his grandmother." Oh. My. God.

"Wha- what? Impossible he was all she had! How could she kill him?"

"Well since I live two houses down from them the cops came by asked me questions and then told me everything, they said that she went crazy and killed him. I'm sorry"

"It's not your fault."

"Yeah I know, but I hate to see you upset. At least it wasn't you. Lets go make dinner." Dinner? I'd been asleep for that long? Michael grabbed my hand an lead me out of my room, but before I left I took a glance at the clock 6:32 P.M. Great. In 12 hours my summer is over. Me and Michael walked down the steps and went into the kitchen. We had spaghetti for dinner.

"So babe, what about that lake house trip?" Michael asked.

"Can't go. I have to babysit Cara until my parents get back from vacation along with the Mullvaneys." I said.

"Well that sucks"

The rest of the dinner was silent. Then Michael asked,"Hey, why don't I come and babysit with you?"

"Well I don't know we'll have to go to the Mullvaneys' house and ask." I replied.

"Ugh, not down to those creeps place!" He said rudely.

"Michael be nice! They're going through rough times!" I snapped.

He hugged me and I grabbed his hand and led him to the door. I grabbed keys to the house off our coat holder and shoved it in my jacket pocket. We headed out the door. I locked it behind me. We walked down our porch steps and out into the rain that was coming down harder and faster than before. There was a heavy fog that didn't help our sight very much, but we kept going. Soon we were at the front door to the Mullvaneys' house. I knocked and no one answered. I knocked again, no answer."Just go in babe." Said Michael.

"Um no!" I replied. Then Michael knocked, but way louder than mine. The door opened quickly and it made me jump. It was Mrs. Mullvaney.

"Hey! We just came over to ask if it was alright that Michael babysits with me. Is that ok?" I asked

"Uh, um yes, yes of course dear..." Mrs. Mullvaney replied back. Then I saw it. A mark on her face.

"Um, Mrs. Mullvaney are, are you ok?" I asked suspiciously.

"Why yes my dear! Just an incident in the, the uh kitchen. Umm I was just get a uh a pan ready and it fell and hit me. I just have a, a headache that's all. Well I'll see you tomorrow honey bye!! Oh and you too Michael." And before we even got to say bye back she slammed the door.

"Wow, she's nice." Michael said. I didn't even say anything. I was just shocked. That's the second time they've wanted me out of their house. Gosh I guess they are a strange family, and Mrs. Mullvaney was a horrible liar.

Michael and I walked back to my house and I pulled the key out of my pocket and opened the door. I looked back at the clock. 7:21 P.M. Great.

I hung up my jacket and took off my boots. Michael took off his shoes and his jacket. "I can't believe this weather." I said

"Yeah it's supposed to be all sunshiny and happy out!" Michael replied. Michael reached for his phone and pulled it out of his pants pocket. He dialed his dads number.

"Hey dad. I'm good. Yes so is she. Well she can't go, she has to babysit, but I made plans to do it with her so lake house plans are off for me. Alright. Alright. Yep. Don't worry. Love you too. Bye!" Michael looked at me and smiled.

"I'm staying her with you until my parents get back from the lake house." He said happily.

"Oh great! When are they coming back?"

"4 and a half months!" He said excitedly.

"Yayy!!" I screamed with excitement. We went upstairs into my room and went to sleep.
