***Anastasia's POV***
Alex had put up an advertisement looking for someone who could help him take care of and watch over his siblings and in return they could live at his house. It took a little while for me to create arrangements and take care of things -like whether I technically existed or not, my phone number, name, etc.- down on Earth but eventually everything was figured out. I notified Alex that I was interested in the advertisement he had put up and now, finally, a few months later he had agreed and now I was on my way to his house.
"Hello?" I said, knocking on the door for like the twentieth time. Alex refused to give me a key to the house until I actually moved in. And considering this is New York, I totally respected his decision. But still.
"Hellloooo? Anybody ho-" I was interrupted by the sound of the door being opened.
A very worn out looking Alex appeared. "Anastasia, you only have to knock once you know," he said.
"Well, hello to you too." I said sarcastically with a smile on my face.
Alex smiled. It was a small, tired smile and I had the feeling that it was the first time he had smiled in a while.
"Hello, Anastasia. Now come inside, it's cold out there. We don't need you getting sick before you've even moved in." Alex said.
"Okay, mother." I said sarcastically.
If you haven't noticed, I like being sarcastic.
Alex laughed and his voice cracked. Obviously he hadn't laughed in a while either. I was going to have to change that.
Note to self: Remember to make Alex laugh and smile a lot.
"No seriously, Anastasia. With my sisters, you're going to be very busy and being sick will just slow you down, so come inside before you catch a cold and start unpacking. The sooner you unpack, the sooner you can rest. And trust me, you're going to need that rest."
"You are such an older brother." I told him as I pushed past him and set my bags down in the living room. "So, where am I staying?"

***Anastasia's POV***
"Drew, who is this and what is she doing in our parents old bedroom?" Someone whispered.
"I don't know." A voice, Drew I'm guessing, said.
"Probably Alex's girlfriend," someone else muttered.
"Nah. She's too pretty to be his girlfriend." A third voice said.
I mentally smiled at that. These were probably Alex's sisters. I was in a semi conscious semi unconscious state.
"Maybe she's a robber. Should we call the police?" The first voice said.
"I don't think she's a robber either. What kind of robber falls asleep in the house that they're robbing? Besides, look around. Her stuff is everywhere, so she must have been here a while." Drew said. I think I like Drew. She's smart.
"Drew, I think you've been watching too many detective shows." The third voice said.
Suddenly I felt someone poking me.
"Poke. Poke. Poke. Poke. Hey can we draw a fake mustache on her face?" Someone asked.
NO!
"I don't think that's such a good idea." Drew answered.
Thank god. I owe her one.
"Well, I think I'm going to go get something to eat. You guys decide what we should do with her. But don't actually do anything until I get back." The third girl told her sisters.
"Okay." They replied in unison.
"Do you think she's dead?" The other girl who wasn't Drew said. Then the lights went on.
"ROSE!!!" Drew and the other girl screamed.
"Sorry! I tripped and stumbled and accidentally turned the lights on!" Rose said.
It took me a moment to register how much the light burned my eyes.
"HOLY SHIIZZ! MY EYES!!! THE LIGHT! IT BURNNSSS!" I screeched as I shot out of bed screaming.
The three girls took off running and screaming. They screamed things like "Ahh! It's alive!" And "Zombie!"
After a moment my eyes readjusted to the light. I started to yawn when I realized that not all of the girls took off running. One of them was sitting, criss cross apple sauce position, on the floor, in the doorway, watching me.
That's not creepy or anything.
I hope you realize that's sarcasm.
"Who are you? And why are you here?" The girl asked. Okay that just made things creepier. She sounds just like Ruby, and she has the same eye color as her too.
"The real question is, who are you? And why are you here?" I contradicted her.
"I'll be the one asking the questions here," she said. "I'll ask you one more time and Im not repeating myself. Who are you and why are you here?"
The seriousness in her tone surprised me. Surely Alex told them that I was coming?
"No. Alex didn't tell us that anyone was coming," she said.
Opps. Did I say that aloud?
"Is your brother here?" I asked. I have some questions for him. Like, why didn't he tell his sisters I was coming?
"No," she said.
"Will he be back soon?" I asked her.
"He should be," she said simply.
"Then we'll just have to wait until he gets back." I told her.
I got up and started to make my way to the door. I had to use the bathroom. But the girl stood up so now she was in my way.
"Excuse me." I said politely.
"You didn't answer my questions." The girl said to me as she narrowed her eyes.
"I'm guessing you're Drew." I said and the girl only narrowed her eyes even more which told me I was right. I smiled. "I'm Anastasia. Your brother hired me to help take care of you guys and in return I get a place to stay."
"So you're . . . Like our nanny?" Drew asked.
"Do I look like a nanny to you?" I asked raising an eyebrow at her.
Drew smiled. "I like you."
I smiled. I like you too, Drew.
Hey that rhymes.
Drew. Too.
Get it?
Ah. Whatever.
"It's too bad you really are too pretty to be Alex's girlfriend," Drew sighed. With that she walked away. Leaving me with my mouth hanging open in shock. I didn't see that coming.
"I knew it!" A voice exclaimed quietly.
I turned towards the voice to see a girl who looked nothing like any of her siblings. Probably because her hair was dyed a purpley indigo color with a single neon blue stripe.
"Opps! . . . Oh, hi! So your name's Anastasia? I'm Teresa!" The girl said. "And you really should close your mouth before a bug flies down your throat."
Okay, like ew.
I closed my mouth.
That was gross.
Teresa opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by a loud crash from downstairs.
"Shit!" We heard someone scream.
"Uh oh." Teresa said.
I just sighed. "Come on, Teresa. Lets go find out what just happened."
Alex was right about taking advantage of rest while I still could. I'm going to need it.
