Chapter Three
Andy was still peacefully asleep, exhausted from all the drama from the past day when she heard knocking on her door. She sighed and ignored it, wanting to stay in bed and not move. After a few minutes of not hearing any more knocking Andy relaxed and sank into the pillow again, falling back asleep.
When Andy woke up the next morning she got up and walked to the bathroom, she saw the bags under her eyes and sighed. I look like shit, she thought to herself. When she left the room to go to the kitchen, she heard a knock on the door. That's the same knock from last night. Andy thought.
Andy walked to the door and opened it. She was about to ask what the person wanted when she realized saw that it was Maggie Peirce and Amelia Shepherd, so she let them in and closed the door.
"What are you two doing here?"
Andy watches the two of them look at each other, neither knowing what to say. "I-"
"Guys, we're not friends or the type of people to randomly show up at each other's doors," Andy stated, not in the mood for any games. "So can one of you just tell me what you're doing here please?"
"Meredith came to talk to us at the hospital before she left for Boston."
Andy sighed. "So, she told you what happened last shift?"
"Last shift? No, she just told us what happened here last night, wanted us to check up on you because she was concerned."
"She doesn't need to be. It was just one bad night." Andy tried to play the panic attack down, but she knew Meredith and these two weren't stupid so when they just looked pointedly at her she sighed. "Okay, fine. It wasn't just one bad night. There have been many." Andy told them, being honest.
"Can you tell us what's been going on?" Maggie asked before Amelia could.
"I can." Andy pauses, trying to decide what to tell them. "I, it's just been a long few years. Ups and downs." Andy tried to play off her grief again.
"Okay," Amelia butts in, "You know you can tell us, but will you?" Amelia asked and Andy looked down. "Look, Andy, I know we've only talked briefly in the halls at the hospital when we bump into each other or you're with Mer, but we do care about you. You can talk to us."
Andy looked at her and then stole a glance at Maggie and when she saw her nod, she sighed again. "Look, Mer has known me for the past five years, so she knows, quite literally, everything I've gone through lately. She was just someone I could trust enough to come clean to. Talking to anyone else feels weird."
"We get it, we just want you to know that you can come to us whenever you feel like you can't talk to anyone else," Maggie told her,
"And if you can't talk, we're available 24/7 with O2 tanks," Amelia said, trying to joke but ended up getting slapped by Maggie. Ow. Amelia thought. "Or you know, just be here, silently comforting you."
"Look, the joking and awkwardness aside, we just want to be here to make sure that you're okay." Maggie told Andy, "If it's okay with you at least. Since this is, well, your apartment,"
Andy was silent for a moment, thinking of the pros and cons of them being in her space. Pro- having them here would mean not being alone, stuck in my thoughts. Con – I don't know them very well, only that they're Mer's sisters. Pro- I won't be alone. Pro - I'll have people to talk to. Pro – they're showing they care. People care. Andy realizes.
"Fine." Andy tries to play cool. "You can stay."
"Great." Maggie sighed.
"So, have any food we can eat?" Amelia asked and earned herself another slap on her arm. "Ow. Sorry, I'm just hungry!" Amelia tried to defend herself and heard Andy giggling, "Oh, yeah, Maggie hurting me is so funny."
"No, what's funny is that I said you could come in and stay. Not that you can eat my food," Andy joked.
Maggie giggled and Amelia just had a shell-shocked expression on her face.
Trying to update as fast as I can. Writer's block just sucks sometimes.
