Chapter Two
When Andy's breathing slowed Meredith pulled the mask off of Andy's face and put it back in her bag. When she came back onto the bed she got herself under the covers, turned the light off and wrapped Andy in her arms. Andy took a few more deep breaths, keeping her breathing calm but silent tears still fell from her cheeks.
"Go to sleep, Andy. I'll still be here in the morning. I promise." Meredith told her, hugging her closer to her chest, hating seeing her friend this way.
It was close to seven minutes when Andy finally fell asleep and Meredith followed suit.

The next morning Meredith wakes up to Andy still being cuddled into her side and asleep. Meredith looks at the clock on the side table and sees that it's 7 am. She panics, knowing that she needed to get back to the house before her kids woke up. Meredith tried to get off the bed and untangled from Andy without waking her up but that proved to be unsuccessful when Andy moaned and opened her eyes.
"Shit. Andy, I am so sorry. I wanted you to sleep in after last night." Meredith felt bad.
"It's fine. Thank you for coming, Mer." Andy said while sinking into the pillow further.
"Look, I have to go back to Boston but I'll try to come back when I can, okay?" Meredith watched Andy nod and close her eyes. "Remember to eat, please." Andy nodded again. "I'll have Amelia or Maggie check-in." Meredith saw Andy's mouth open. "No arguing. I need to know you're okay."
"Fine. Give them a key though so they won't wake me up if I'm asleep and they knock on the door." Andy opened an eye to see Meredith be the one to nod this time. "I really appreciate you helping me out Mer."
"I know." Meredith smiles and Andy closes the eye that was open. "I'll let you get back to sleep. Expect Amelia or Maggie to come by tonight or tomorrow. They'll bring more medical equipment and food." Meredith squeezed Andy's hand. "You can call me anytime, okay?" Meredith watched Andy nod again. "Goodbye, Andy. I'll call you when I land."
"Be safe," Andy told her, squeezing her hand back.
"I will. Promise" Meredith said and then left the room. She closed the door and walked out of the apartment, locking the door she sighed. Hating that she had to leave Andy when she was struggling so much. Meredith pulls out her phone and dials Amelia while walking to her car. She huffs when she gets Amelia's voicemail. She gets in her car and makes her way home. She unlocks the front door and bumps into Maggie.
"Whoa. Where's the fire, Mer?"
Mer chuckles. "I just needed to talk to you and Amelia about something and she wasn't answering her phone."
"What is it?" Is it serious?" Maggie asked and then spoke again before Meredith could. "Dumb question, it obviously is."
"Where's Amelia, Maggie? I need to talk to you both before I catch my flight back to Boston." Meredith told her, rushing around the house, and grabbing her suitcase from the living room.
"She was on call. She's at the hospital." Maggie told her and Meredith swore under her breath. "Mer. What's really going on?" Maggie asked, frowning.
Maggie watched Meredith look at her watch. "I have to catch my flight in a couple of hours but right now I really need to talk to you and Amelia about Andy Herrera."
"The firefighter?" Maggie asked, eyebrows furrowing. "She's the most badass person I know, besides you."
"She isn't always," Meredith told her. "Sometimes it's more of a front to protect herself." Mer picks up her suitcase and makes her way to the door. "You coming?" Meredith asked Maggie and she nodded.
Both women make their way to the car and get in. It's a silent drive to the hospital. Meredith not wanting to say anything since she doesn't want to have to repeat herself to Amelia when they get to the hospital.
When they get to the hospital Meredith parks and pretty much jumps out of the car and to the front desk.
"Dr. Grey? I thought you were in Boston."
"Yeah, I was and I'm actually going back in a couple of hours. Right now I need to know where Amelia Shepherd is though."
"One second." The nurse said. "Looks like she just got out of surgery and is in her office. Would you like me to page her?"
"Please do," Meredith asked. The nurse nods and picks up the phone and calls for Amelia.
It's exactly 4 minutes later when they see Amelia coming towards them.
"Mer? What's going on? Shouldn't you be on the way back to Boston?" Amelia asked, confused.
"Are you still on call or can you leave?" Meredith asked, wanting to talk to them. Meredith waits and when Amelia tells her that she can leave she practically runs to the car and gets in.
"Meredith? What's going on?" Amelia asked, wondering why she was dragged out of the hospital.
"I need to talk to you about Andy Herrera," Meredith told them.
"What about her?" Amelia asked.
"She's been struggling lately."
"What do you mean?" Maggie asked, confused.
"I mean, that she's been struggling with her mental health. For a while now but with a recent call, it's been bringing up a lot of bad memories for her. She had a really bad panic attack last night and I had to put her on oxygen."
"Oh, my god. Did she pass out or something?"
"No. I got her to calm down before it got that bad." Meredith told them, running a hand over her face. "I need you two to watch her. At least just check on her." Meredith pulls out a key and hands it to Amelia. "I need you two to promise me that you'll check up on her."
Amelia and Maggie look at each other.
"Of course, we will." Amelia holds the key. "Promise."
Meredith nods, starts the car and drives to the airport. Once she says bye to Maggie and Amelia she walks in and waits to board the plane. Meanwhile, Maggie and Amelia are both in shock.
"Andy Herrera is struggling with her mental health and she's apparently been struggling for a while? Wouldn't someone notice? I mean aren't the people at 19 close to each other?" Maggie asked.
"I thought they were. But I don't know now." Amelia runs a hand through her hair. "I want to stop by her place before we do anything else today."
Maggie shakes her head. "It's still early. She's probably asleep still. We can go check on her later in the day."
"Mer also said we need to bring her another oxygen tank in case she has another panic attack," Amelia added.
Maggie and Amelia didn't know what to say for the longest time but then Maggie broke the silence.
"Let's go back to Mer's after we stop at the hospital for medical equipment," Maggie suggested and Amelia nodded.

At Andy's
Andy was still peacefully asleep, exhausted from all the drama from the past day when she heard knocking on her door. She sighed and ignored it, wanting to stay in bed and not move. After a few minutes of not hearing any more knocking Andy relaxed and sank into the pillow again, falling back asleep.
Again, I'm trying so hard to update all my stories but it's taking time. Please don't be too mad at me. I may also be starting a new story soon.
