I sat quietly listening to the even breaths of my sister letting me know that she is asleep. I sliped off of the mattress we shared and silently laced up my boots. Tip toeing around my brother and father's mattress I made my way to the stairs that led down into my fathers forge. Trending as lightly as I could I made my way through the old work shop. My boot pressed down on an old creaky board. I froze, waiting for my father to wake up and come to demand what I was doing. I held my breath, but all I heard was my restless brother shift in his sleep.
I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding, blowing a strand of my blond hair away from my pale face. I continued words the door lifting my cloak up form the hook as I slipped out the door into the cold night air. I let the fresh breeze was over my flushed face warm from the ever present fire in my fathers workshop. I let the soft snow flakes coat my long eye lashes and melt on my warm face. The moon was only half full tonight making the path to the edge of the town difficult to find. As I went down the cobble stone path I noted the strange silence that encased the village of Myklen as if the town it's self was holding it's breath just waiting for me to be caught by the queen patrolmen. But even the flowers that poked up through the stones of the road know I will never be caught, because I have never been caught and that's the way life has always been.
I reached the edge of the town and hopped over the fence that divided the town for the forbidden Emberwood forest. I had been coming her ever since my mother mysteriously died six years ago. Being in the forest made me feel like she was not actually gone, like her spirt was somehow still surrounding this place, but she couldn't leave the forest. I loved playing with the fey and the animals in the forest, sadly they were my only friends. You see I sort of a social outcast when it came to my village. I mostly kept to myself out of fear that someone would discover my need to be in the forest that the queen had forbidden anyone go into, the price for disobedience was death. And yet I still couldn't stay away.
Even though it probably endangered my family including my little brother Daniel. He means the world to me, he's sweet and kind and always willing to help out around, and of coarse like any other eight year old boy he loves jokes. I love it when his green eyes sparkle and the curls of his dark hair bounces as he skips from stone to stone in the market place.
Then there is my younger sister, even at thirteen she is ready to take on the world. Unlike me, my younger sister, Rowan was a huge socializer. I think that's a word, right? Anyway she new all the gossip in town, like who was have problems with their shops and who liked who, and she always new the best fashions. Unlike me, I wear simple brown dress every day, but she was still the best sister anyone could ask for. She was kind and sweet always helping out and encouraging everyone. As soon as she had turned thirteen she had had suitors lined up out the door, and I mean what wouldn't she. She had chocolate brown hair and fair, but tan skin, her lips were full and always a beautiful shade of red. Her warm brown eyes glowed in contrast to my icy blue ones. And yet I had always been content just being me, never really wanting from life then what I already had, well other than having my mother back.
Nobody knows how my mother died, they just found her body burned, on the edge of the Emberwood forest. Some say that evil forces of that forest killed her for daring even approach their woods, but I know better. My mother was killed, I don't know how or who, but I know that the forest doesn't hurt people. People hurt it. At least the town was right about one thing, magic does come from the forest whether it's dangerous or not is up to the person who finds it.
I continued through the forest at a slow pace letting the fresh pine sent work it's way into my senses, clearing me of my responsibilities and refinement. The fey surrounded me like I was their queen, they placed a wreath of lilies and lavender on top of my head. The moon tried to peak through the cracks of the trees to help light my path, and with the aid of the fireflies I was able to walk through the forest. As I moved I felt the itching feeling in my stomach that usually presents it's self after a short while in the woods. Not being able to take it any longer I threw off my cloak and took off running through the snow cover forest.
As I ran they fey flew with me whispering my name urging me to go faster and farther. "Lilith go and run. Lilith come be free. Lilith, Lilith,Lilith." And I ran until my lung were burning a hole through my chest. Even though I would go home in a few hours and pretend like this had never happened, I will never forget feeling so alive in the Emberwoods. The forbidden forest was my home.

Hey guys,
Mostly a set up chapter, but I hoped it gave enough detail about Lily's life in order for me to jump right into the story next chapter. Which BTW I have no idea when I'll have time to do, but till then, please comment and give your feed back. A picture of lily is the cover of the book.
Always,

I'm always open to new ideas!
