There would have been clues,
Given that you were willing to search.
The ring you gifted to her,
Was thrown in the corner all along.
A struggle perhaps, but she wasn't swayed,
She made a promise to keep her faith,
There would have been gods willing to help,
But you never once desired to help anyone.
It was indeed a quest, a test, a mistake.
You never once understood the love you'd get,
For you got lost in the momentary happiness,
Thinking about finding mermaids, living with sirens.
Though there would have been truths,
You never needed them.
