"Son, have you found who the one ruining our hard work is?" my father asks, barging into my office with a stern look. He arrived not long after the first hundred buildings were up.
"No, not yet. He was too fast." I respond, not looking up from my emails.
"How could you let him go? How could you let him kill all those people?" He screams, making my secretary turn to look at me through the glass room walls. She quickly turns back to her desk and picks up the ringing phone. " Did he at least tell you why he was doing this? What is his plan?"
"I don't know. If I did I wouldn't be sitting here answering a bunch of emails from worried families. He didn't monolog like you said villains do. No explanation, no evil plan, nothing. He was there the whole speech though. He even applauded, he applauded me then killed those people. He blew me a kiss then ran away." I explain looking at him wondering how this man could have been so wrong about facing villains.
"He was in the crowd and nobody noticed him until he wanted to be noticed? How is that even possible Holt?" He questions making it seem like there was no way I was telling the truth.
"I don't know dad. Honestly, he showed up and then disappeared." I explain.
"Alright, talk me through it again." He says sitting down on the couch in the corner of the room. " Explain everything. I mean everything before and after the conference too."
"Can you first explain to me why we went to the moon then came back to begin with? Why did we have to take over the small spot they made a home?"
"Why?"
"Yeah why? Tell me what I am missing."
"Alright. It is kinda a long story but I suppose you are old enough to hear the whole truth now." The old man takes a pretty big book out of his bag and sets it on my desk. "This was your grandfather's diary. It was the early three thousands when they started getting visits from alien species. Many of which came with the message that they're plant was close to being inhabitable. They asked for refuge just to realize that not only a few years later their planet was back to being beautiful and prosperous. Of course these aliens would go back to their plant only to find that another type of alien had taken over."
"Sounds like these aliens are simply healers that care about the environments of other planets."
"Yes, your grandfather thought the same thing. After my father heard of these creatures he stayed in contact with the other planets. Only thing was that the connection only lasted a few weeks before it went dead. The planet died again but this time it didn't give those aliens a chance to escape. It killed every single living thing except for the aliens who went there to heal it. It is almost like these aliens wanted them to see what it could have been before turning it back into what it was. There eventually was more and more of these healing aliens showing up. They started taking healthy planets and slaughtering the people on them and taking them over. My fathers mission was to figure out why this was happening. His hypothesis was that their planet had died and they were looking for one where they were able to survive. Then got angry when they fixed planets for others but they weren't able to survive there. These aliens are sensitive to warm temperatures according to my father. If it is too hot they can't survive. From what he was writing in his last entry it looks like they were losing a lot of their kind and at one time it got down to as few as twenty. Now it is believed that this is about forty of them. They were able to reproduce and double their population."
"If their abilities are to heal and use nature then how would they kill the planet?"
"They seem to all have very different abilities.  From my understanding some of them can control plants, others water or light. Not completely sure what types of limitations they have however it looked like one planet  that was originally in danger of getting flooded ended up getting scorched. The one that was in danger of  droughts got flooded." He explains however not seeming to know. "I told you what I know now it is your turn. Talk me through it again."
I sigh trying to recall everything that happened before telling him. "I remember practicing with my Liam. I got onto the platform then said my speech. After he started clapping, he kills people and leaves."
"What did you notice in the audience?" He asks.
"It was loud, with a lot of people and flashing." He runs his hand over his scruffy face sighing.
"I see. Let's start over again." He says. He continues to have me repeat what happened over and over again.
"Dad this obviously isn't helping."
"You just now mentioned the one with the blond hair and the larger man. Describe them again. What were they doing when you approached?"
"They looked like they were just standing there. They didn't seem to be having a conversation. I don't know. All I remember is that one was really big and tall and the other one was petite with almost glowing white hair. Neither of them seemed very happy."
"I see. How big was the guy who killed those people?"
"I couldn't tell. He was far away." I tell him, "Wait no. There is no way that one of those two was the guy in the black veil. Nobody can change that quickly. Not to mention the man in the veil had shoulder length black hair. I hate to say but I don't think they can change their appearance like that."
"Alright, it was just a theory." He shrugs. "You will have to solve this as soon as possible. The people aren't gonna be happy if they realize you haven't caught the guy yet."
"I know. I am gonna go out for a coffee. Want anything?" I ask out of politeness.
"No thank you."
I nod and walk to the nearest coffee shop, observing everything and everyone around me. Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. It seems like most people have decided to move past the man who decided to kill multiple people in a public setting. I sigh and notice bright white hair through the coffee shop window. Along with the cute pink bows in his hair. I walk inside and wait in the abnormally long line. That is when I realized that everyone wasn't talking about the killer because they all seem to have their attention on the pretty blonde at the register. He sure knows how to capture the attention of a room. I feel like I have seen him before, when I first came to Earth. It's hard to believe I would forget such a sweet energy.
