    "Oak, right?" I ask.
"Yeah, why? Can I help you with anything?" He asks with a mocking smile.
"What did you do before coming to this planet? You had a job, no?"
"I did. I took care of filing records part time and had my own book shop along with my wife." He says helping my men move things by himself that would normally take three men to do.
"I could get you a nice bookshop with an easy life. You'll make enough sales you won't have to worry about anything I promise."
"Interesting. How can you promise such things?"
"I have a lot of power when it comes to such things."
"I see. Assuming you have such power, why would I believe that you will use it to help me?"
"You shouldn't. I can't prove it to you until we finish building."
"I see. So you want me to trust you based on absolutely nothing. Give me something I can trust first. I imagine the only reason you are trying to convince me to trust you is because you think I hold some sort of power with the others. I don't."
"Don't you? It seems many of them look to you to see where to go. I don't think you are paying enough attention." I tell him, knowing that I am definitely going to get what I want.
"Fine. I will back your way of living but if you are lying to me I will make sure it crumbles." He says looking over his shoulder to the purple eyed one who seems oblivious to the larger creature's gaze.
"Great. Is there anyone I should be concerned about?"
"No, Raven is stubborn but he isn't violent. He also doesn't have any abilities that cause any real destruction. It might be a while before he decides to join but he will eventually. He knows when it's time to move on."
"Good to hear. Let's get back to work."
"Of course just tell me where you need me."
I show him what he will be responsible for and how to do it. I notice that a lot more of the creatures started helping as Oak seemed to get more comfortable with my men. We are definitely getting things done faster than expected with these creatures' help. Some of them seem to have abilities others aren't showing their powers or simply don't have them.
The purple eyed creature is playing with the children of the creatures, keeping them occupied and often cooks for them. He will even occasionally help some of the human women with childcare however seem to avoid the human men at all cost for some reason. According to Oak the creature was the first form of defense that they had against attacks however was off during the time of our attack. It is hard to believe that a creature that seems to be no taller than five feet and has very little muscle mass in the arms could protect anything. I can't see him being very helpful with the building but it seems kinda odd that he would decide to do something that is traditionally woman's work. Assuming that he is indeed a guy. He does have some overly feminine features. I must say he is quite pleasant to look at.
He walks past me brushing my arm with his as he walks past his long hair is now tied up in a bun using a hair tie that I saw one of the human mothers give him.  He takes a pail and gets water from the well as he holds a child in one arm. It doesn't look to be an easy thing to be doing but from the looks of the kid he doesn't have much of a choice. After a failed attempt to pull the pail back up with one arm I decide to go and help. I grab the rope and pull the pail backup for him.
He grabs the pail without a word and turns on his heel with what I can only assume to be annoyance written on his face.
"You're welcome." I say with a large smile as he continues to ignore me. Or maybe he doesn't quite understand me. I have noticed that he doesn't speak much and when he does it is very basic phrases or just single word answers. Maybe he is just soft spoken compared to the other creatures. "You don't talk alot do you?"
He shrugs softly, "Examine your repulsion of me before you decided to have a conversation with me."  With that, he continues to walk over to a large fire pit. He puts the budget down and starts a fire before heating the water. He gently puts the water into a pot before putting it on to boil.
"Is there a reason you are staring him down like you're starving and he is a three course meal." My friend says hitting my arm with a questioning look.
"I just find him amusing.  His movements look so gentle like he is floating,  he's beautiful. Like a cat or a doll though not like a human.  Don't you think so?"
" I suppose he does have some typically pretty features. I also think he wouldn't mind killing you. He hates you man."
"Yeah, it's cute he thinks he would even be able to get a punch in. I could probably do anything I wanted and he wouldn't be able to do anything about it. Oak himself said that he isn't capable of using his powers for anything that could cause harm and he isn't even strong enough to help with the construction so if he wants to act on his hatred of me I would love to put him in his place face down on the dirt."  I tell him, thinking back to Raven's question. Why do I have such strong feelings of repulsion towards them? Where did it all come from. It doesn't really matter they deserve it, maybe it does. Why do they deserve it. I never really questioned it. It was just what my father has told me time and time again. I'm starting to wonder if he was right. He always is but maybe it's possible he isn't this one time.
"You are fucked up man." He laughs, "Let's go help the others finish these last few buildings before retiring for the night. It is getting dark."
"Yeah." I lead the way to go and help the others finish up and make sure that it is all going according to plan. We are lucky that our ship was able to carry our construction machines or this would have taken twice as long.
As we retire for the night Raven is serving soup out of the pot along with some bread that he had made. Many of them thank him and one of the aliens helping us takes his child out of Raven's arms thanking him for watching her.  Raven also offers some to my men who all seemed to accept the offer and compliment the cooking. After serving everyone he made himself a small bowl and sat against tree staring up at its branches.
I go to my sleeping area under the tarp  and position myself so I can still see Raven. Watching how calculated and calm he is always helps me sleep. I find most of these creatures to be distasteful and hard to be around. They are loud and often are overly cocky. Raven seems to be so easy to predict though, he is gentle, caring, and quiet.
I slowly fall asleep to dreams of one day having a beautiful white house with a picket fence, and a stunning wife.
