Chapter 3

"Would you stop being such a jerk?" Silverpaw closed her eyes. To many Twoleg words! Wingpaw and Sagepaw had been at it using Twoleg language. Silverpaw had been avoiding the squabbling siblings. Ruby had caused this. Silverpaw wondered if she could talk to Ruby about it. Lionlight was waiting outside the camp entrance. "What are we doing today?" Her mentor said,"Hunting." As they were walking to the hunting ground, Silverpaw thought she saw her mother's orange shape through the bushes, but shook the thought away. Silverpaw followed Lionlight to where VolcanoClan met TreeClan, the border. There was a patrol there consisting of Soulheart and a cat Silverpaw had never seen before. The tom was about as tall as her so she guessed he was an apprentice. "Lionlight what brings you here?" Soulheart asked, the tom-apprentice was looking at Silverpaw with a smile. "Just passing through," he answered, "Who's that?" Soulheart looked at the tom. "Oh him? This is Badgerpaw, my new apprentice. Looks like he wants to be with Silverpaw, but you know the rules," she said with sadness in her voice. Lionlight moved Silverpaw away, she wondered why her mentor would go so quickly away from the Patrol, Badgerpaw seemed nice enough. "Silverpaw, hunting crouch!" Silverpaw crouched down and started stalking a lizard, shaking Badgerpaw from her mind. While walking home, the tom wriggled his way back into her brain, annoyingly. Shooting a murderous look at Sagepaw, she went to the leaders den, where Flarestar lived. "Will that mousebrain(Sagepaw) be coming to the gathering?" She forced out. Flarestar looked up, surprised. "StarClan, no! Until Wingpaw can live with her brother again, they must be kept separate and since Wingpaw is a medicine cat she has to be there, so Sagepaw....." Silverpaw lifted her ears. "Mom, I know." Flarestar looked away. "Silverpaw there's something you should know about your father he was......"
